  1. when you say you can assign aircraft to ufos anywhere in the world, does that mean air combat "just happens", as a separate instance irregardless of their location world map?

I was looking forward to seeing how modeled squadrons on the world map would to interact with the cold war landscape as realistically the opposing bloc would respond to your fighters entering their airspace with their own fighters or long range missiles, but it it sounds like that's not going to happen

  2. why not make it so you have to buy advanced grenades in bulk, which would cost time, money, as well as possibly alien materials. you could also make it so more advanced grenades get bulkier and heavier since they would incorporate more complicated mechanisms.

If you don't want to make grenades harder to use then you could make aliens more resilient to them you could make it so the aliens start using countermeasures against them , like telekinesis or repulsor shield that makes them bounce back where it came from or even have them reaction shot them out of the air, players would think twice about spamming grenades because they would just be wasting grenades and TUs and taking casualties

to make them more effective I was thinking you could make it so they bounce off walls for more range/ hit enemies behind corners, maybe grenades exploding close to walls could cause them to spall from the other side

  3. instead of a dodge chance, I was thinking why not allow players to have the chance to choose how soldiers react instead of defaulting to a reaction shot. which could include moving into cover or crouching and even nothing when you don't want the subject being reacted to to be killed.

Maybe you could have bravery lend itself into its calculation. soldiers with high bravery, you would be able to choose how he or she responds while lower bravery soldiers will default to reaction shot or running away or even hesitating/freezing up.

I think it's more logical that a soldier react to the threat of being shot rather than the act of being shot itself.
