  1. I like it.

My two concerns are firstly, the hard hat and tools buttons. My first instinct was that the hard hat was the workshop, but what then would the tools be? So I was left wondering what the hard hat was, until I thought of the base screen. However, I couldn't really come up with another icon in the same style that better represented base building and general info, so..

Second. Why must all military men in media wear their berets like a french chef? This is a pet peeve, and I realize that it's not going to change, the artwork is already done. Just something for the future. :P

  2. Yeah, $1mill on the main site in a week and $108K on kickstarter in less than a day, it'll at least get the $2mill they're asking for, and might even reach some of their stretch goals. However, the way I understood it, the $2mill were just to prove to other investors that the genre isn't dead, and that people want this.

  3. I liked it. Yes, it's quite a different genre than EU, but I like space sims. I also loved the 50's style names on everything.

What they did wrong imo was the alien bases. As far as I can recall, they were way to easy to take down, and graphically inferior to your own base. But I might be misremembering things.

I love that you eventually got proper ray weapons, so you hit what you aimed at, no silly laser bursts travelling 2 miles per hour.

  4. With personnel I wouldn't like everyone being sergeants in the late game, but maybe a really high chance that there will be a sergeant, and a few corporals. I think taking one of your crew and have him instruct recruits could be a really cool mechanic, instantly having me remember the training sessions in that first Epic book. Especially if what they were primarily trained in depended on the stats of the mentor. Every stat increases, but the mentors highest stat increases a bit faster than the others in the recruits.

So basically you first take your valuable sniper off the drop list to have him instruct for a week, making accuracy increase faster for that week, then you take your most athletic scout (TUs) and have him run them through their drills, increasing TUs a bit faster than the other stats. That would be quite the mechanic, but it wouldn't destroy people who doesn't bother to micromanage it too much.

I'm not fond of aliens being shot down by someone else. I mean, if it's a reasonably rare occurance maybe. It'd have to be stated that by a stroke of luck or sheer manpower involved a nation has managed to shoot down a UFO. If not it kinda cheapens the reason for the existence of the Xenonauts. If you see a lot of activity on another continent, you must build a base there!

  5. Just crashed as well. First two missions were Sebillians and worked fine, a farm and a desert. (Old grass texture issues, and ufo facing E when the crash marks faced S. Able to walk through edges of desert rocks. Ufo on concrete) Crashed on city map, middle of Africa, first enemy turn there were shots and then game hang. Alt+tab reveals stopped working message.

Also, a LOT of invisible civilians running around, just seeing the shadows.

  6. I don't know how I missed both of these threads!

I think I'd prefer the interior and exterior to not be split up, but if you must you must.

Concerning clunky insides, I never really reacted to it. I mean, these are space faring vessels. There has to be ALOT of systems in them, so it's not really that strange that they are smaller on the insides. Plating, shielding, storage, wiring, engine, exhaust, oxygen(or equalent) tanks, oxygen scrubbers, lighting.. the list goes on.

I like your submissions zzz1010, for maximizing space available. However, it'd be odd with so much open space I'd find. Larger ships would probably need some sort of restitution area, or private spaces for higher ranks and so forth. While they are aliens, I find it implausible that they stand about their entire lives, even when serving on a military craft.

  7. I've also read that multiplayer isn't super easy, but yeah I'm down. I started a.. sorcerwizawitch. Can't recall the class name.. Ember mage? I dunno. Also rolled a Outlander, and that's a blast! I found som good guns with the sorcerwizawitch and used them as soon as able. Then ran into a random enchanter doing electricity enchants. Spent all my money on the guns, then ran into a guy doing cold enchants, and spent all my money again, before I ran into a poison enchanter and spent all I could. By then only the legendary one had just two enchantments. :D I'd love a tank since it's a bit of a glass cannon at the moment. :P
