[Build V8.61 Released!]

Build V8.61 has been released on Desura. This is only a quick hotfix to sort out a couple of pervasive stability

That is all. As mentioned elsewhere in the forums, we're working on a major update at the moment. Here is a sneak peek of it (much left to do on it still):

Had it with 8.5 too. The same save seem to got corrupted in other ways too (i.e. blocked research - couldn't research Alien Plasma Technology).

I was repeatedly reloading save, trying to intercept a UFO which would always escape to space anyway. Ended up with over 1200 scientists/lab space.

Hmmm. So quitting the GC causes the crashite to escape to space. But loading a saved game with a crash site present also makes said crash site disappear into space?

No. When you're in GC and load a geoscape save from just before the mission, you basically quit your current GC, so the message about crash site escaping to space appears (after the game loads which makes for a confusion). The site is still there after loading.

Holy Silacoid! I didn't even know you could actually command your aircraft when in dogfight! I guess I need to play a bit more often.

I must have lost track of the updates when I moved the SVN onto the laptop I'm currently using. Stupid of me, but these things happen.

Yeah pretty usual stuff when trying to work while travelling. I've 'somehow' lost an entire branch of repository while juggling repos between several machines.

You might want to try using git on your laptop as a client to SVN repo. This way you get local version control, which you can later commit to SVN. Takes some time to get used to, but works well for me.

Man I'm so torn about this! I desperately want to try the game, but I really don't want to spoil my fun for the final version, I want it all to be new and exciting How are you guys handling it?

I caved even though I was planning to play the final version only...
