  1. I've tried reproducing the crashes on my end and I just can't. I'm sorry guys, must be OS related or something.
  2. But if the issue is the amount of names, why doesn't it crash on my side? I even start new games everytime I add a new country so I can get the screenshots of the flags and names in-game. I'm starting to wonder if the Steam version is slightly different from the one you are using (i use Steam) PS: I've removed a couple of single quotation marks from strings.xml as well as a "ó" that had passed undetected. Whenever you can, give it a spin.
  3. I get the finer points of english just fine. I also understood through deduction that your problem was a "false friend" in dutch. So let's stop this unproductive banter and move on to what matters. Right now the Steam Workshop version seems to work for people (at least that's the feedback). I've removed the extended characters as much as i could, so I'm waiting for aajs to give me feedback. Until then you'll have to wait because his feedback will be much more informative than yours.
  4. Says here you're from Belgium. Went to google translate to see what "map" was in french and dutch, so time for a little lesson in english: The word you are looking for is "folder" or "directory". In english, "map" is a representation of of a geographical location, like a map of Belgium or a map of your city. This game also has "maps" as in the playing surfaces where you fight the aliens or the geoscape. My mod has no maps, only folders.
  5. But i didn't do any map. There are no maps in this mod.
  6. OK, replaced all the non-english characters i could find. From scandinavian vowels, portuguese accents, spanish accents and turkish characters. Also removed a lonely Š i found lost in there. Can you guys test it please? To me it doesn't affect at all.
  7. Ah, well spotted. In my game i can see those accents, but since i'm portuguese i probably have an extended character set. I'm going to do a massive replacement of non-english characters in my next version.
  8. BTW, i forgot to mention and maybe this is important: it works on my PC with the Khall's More Portraits mod BUT the Steam workshop version of it. In the mod launcher it says the portraits version is 1.0. Side note: Updated this mod to version 1.18. New coutry: Argentina
  9. Well, this is mostly text and a few flag images, so it's very easy to merge it with Khall's portraits. But i suppose you'd want his approval.
  10. Damn, the screenshot has very low res. Here's a transcript: 1- Khall's more portraits 2- Names of the world 3- Lore+ 4- Skitso's map pack
  11. The mod alters strings.xml, soldiernames.xml and soldiernamesfemale.xml. Everything else is new (flags in the "gui" folder). As for strings.xml, if the merging is working fine, there should never be a problem. In the soldier names files I made a MODMERGE="deleteall" command at the beginning of both files and then a MODMERGE="insert" for every nation, so the way it works is by deleting all soldier names and then remaking them all from scratch. That means that any mods that are loaded before this one that edit the "Nation" tags in soldiernames.xml and soldiernamesfemale.xml have their changes rendered void. Maybe that causes the crash? I know that Khall's portraits require a tweak to the soldiernames.xml where he redefines the size of the portrait pool for each ethnicity. Anyway, that shouldn't be a problem, because that's the "Ethnicity" tag and i do a deleteall in the "Nation" tag. Anyway, here's my loading order: Does mod merging happen the same way in the Steam and non-Steam versions of the game?
  12. Hello, due to several requests by Linux users for whom the Steam Workshop is acting up, I'm posting the latest version of my mod here. NOTE: Uninstall all my other soldier names mods. 13. Followup question about the CE edition: I have the game on Steam and I've been modding it for a while. I was under the impression that the Steam version of the game was the CE edition by default, since the list of features in that thread Max_caine linked is already in the game I'm playing (except the memorial screen). I went to the betas tab to check and my version is not CE edition. So my question is: did those features listed in that thread migrate from CE to vanilla, or am I missing something?
  14. Unless you can change the source code, by modding all you can do is affect probabilities of nationality, gender and ethnicity. I don't know of any way of affecting rank or even to remove the ever present custom soldiers (more than 100 of them).
