Ya in my next play through I ran out of money and had to stop producing items LOL

I have gotten pretty far in my second gam but I think I waited too long to expand. I was to cautious with my money early. How much do you keep in your budget?

Just started playing Xenonauts about a week ago and I can say this is the most engrossing, addictive game I've played since... IDK man Mario Kart DS, or maybe Warcraft 3. I'm having a blast, however when I started my first base defense mission the game slowed down a lot, and I eventually had to force quit. I reloaded from the last save point and this time the Alien Corvette launched a terror attack, but once again when the ground combat loaded it was very slow, and there were glitches in the line of sight. (If it happens again I'll make a screenshot) Is there a setting I should adjust or an update I need? Thanks!
