Max_Caine
I'm in the process of making desert and farm roadside petrol/gas station submaps, which means mass copying of assets into the appropriate folder. I've unpacked the tiles archive and I notice the /town/ground/ folders are empty, which is a pain in the bum. What have I missed? EDIT: Eh, don't worry. Turns out I so happen to have a copy of 18.3 with all the tiles/spectres I'm missing. Edited February 20, 2014 by Max_Caine
Chris
Fair point though, actually. We'll have to put out a full zip somewhere containing all the tiles so people can make maps...
Skitso
What? Doesn't the game have all the tiles in it at the moment? If I mix tilesets and copy tiles from one tileset folder to another, will the submaps still work as is even after the final compression is made? Max_Caine
I'm certain the tiles are there - otherwise the submaps as they stand wouldn't work! I just can't be bothered to spend my time looking for them when I have them to hand.
Chris
They're in the archive files we use to reduce the number of files, so you need to open the archives or wait till we provide the unzipped tiles that have about 100k files in them. Skitso
I have of course unpacked the tiles archive already and made many maps. I'm just corcerned that if I make mixed tileset submaps, they won't work in the final game after Chris has made the final compression as he said in [this thread] Making submaps is pretty time consuming process, so I'd like to make them perfect right from the start. Also, I'd like them to be GH standard and to be playable in the final game by all the players without problems... Chris
Yeah, so you need to copy the files across the the correct directory. If you want to use the Farm concrete ground tiles in the Industrial tileset, you need to copy the required files across from /tiles/Farm/ground/ to /tiles/industrial/ground/ and then use the correct ones in the map you're making. It leads to duplication but ultimately the file archiving means that it's not too bad a side effect.
Skitso
Okay, great! When I eventualy release my maps, will I need to attach these non default files in the correct path along with them, or will the added tiles work without them by some magic? Chris
You'll need to include an updated /tiles/ directory along with a /maps/ directory when you release your maps.

Max_Caine
You have edited the prop spectres so they're pointing to the appropriate folders, yah?
Chris
You have to press Rescan Resources if you've moved them since you started up the editor, and check the paths inside the spectre have been updated (mass edit using Notepad++ for lots of files)...or just copy the images and create the spectres from scratch if not. Skitso
Yeah, I figured it out already. Thanks!
Skitso
BTW, can I generate a new /mixed tiles/ folder or do I need to copy all the tiles exactly in the same folder structure?
