Gauddlike
Just posting this as promised. These are some modifications I made to the current standard cursors to make troops easier to select. They have problems with the tops of the cursors lying under the selected object instead of over. I will look into sorting that if I decide to redo these properly as they are just to make things easier for me at the moment. I have added them here so anyone who wants to try them out can do so. Hopefully saving them from my posts will work anyway Edited February 2, 2012 by Gauddlike
Gauddlike
These are the single troop select cursors. Just copy these into the assets/tiles folder after backing up your current versions (in case you want to go back to using them later). Gauddlike
These are the vehicle boxes. They should save in the .png format. They need the associated spectre file altering to make them sit in the correct position.selectTile3x3Neutral_spectreselectTile3x3Friendly_spectreselectTile3x3Enemy_spectreOpen them and alter the pivoty="119" to pivoty="140". plucx
Really nice, should help with the visibility issues. I feel that the top of the box lines should cover the units.
Gauddlike
I feel that the top of the box lines should cover the units. I am guessing you mean the problem I mentioned where the whole cursor sits behind the units, most noticeable on the vehicle cursor? I think to get around that I would need to split the cursor in two and have the top half appear at a higher level. No idea how to go about doing that atm though. Will look into it later. Gauddlike
Not to worry. It does look a little odd. If you hover over a solid area (like the front of the Chinook) then the back part of the cursor is actually in front of the solid area while the front part is behind. Probably just the way the engine displays tiles by default.
Amiga4ever
Vehicle cursor is saving in .jpg - should be in .png Is it a mistake? And files arent transparent. I have white box around cursors. Edited February 4, 2012 by Amiga4ever
Gauddlike
Is that all of them? They work fine for me but hat might be because I have the originals. I just added .png to the end of the name when saving the vehicle cursor and it worked fine. I wanted to just upload them as a zip but they are too big for the site allowance. Gauddlike
Ah wait you need to click on them and save from that picture, not from the thumbnail in the post.

resonansER
Standard cursor looks much more interesting. 3D cursor, in my opinion, looks out of place and unnecessary.
Gauddlike
I put them together because sometimes they help when troops are hard to select. They may not exactly fit but all I did was alter the existing cursor for ease The best thing about modified items/cursors is that you don't need to use them if you don't like them. Chris
Actually, you do have to use them. I've told the coder to add a second selection circle above the head of the unit on mouseover. It'll make selection of units much easier.

Gauddlike
Bah always has to go that extra mile to prove me wrong The only one that strikes me as odd is the enemy select. It only appears when an enemy is visible to the friendly trooper you have selected and has the aim cursor over the top. If the alien is not visible then the aim cursor appears alone. I would suggest the top circle could have an eye or something similar, to show that the alien is visible to that particular trooper. If there is no eye you know that the person you have selected cannot see that particular enemy.
