It's working fine for me... I lose a few or get damage on occasion but as a rule of thumb (sadly) I get better results with auto resolve than when I do the intercept manually. I guess that is not my cup of tea. Three Condors will whip up on a scout or fighters with no damage or loses most every time. Once the corvettes show up you have to add in a few Foxtrots. I enjoy the game for it's ground combat and strategy management. I might get back into the dog fighting stuff but I can do without that for now.
