emes
Hi, I received an info about a terror attack across the globe. That was far beyond the range of Condors, so I sent my poor Charlie without escort. The resut was easy to predict. 2/3 of my trained team perished and the attack resulted in a minor nuclear explosion, claiming some 30k lives. As I'm a Xenonauts newbie, there's a couple of questions about the incident: * The attack was within the radar range of my second base, where only intercepors resided. I guess that terror attacks are only detected if they happen within radar range. Am I right? * If so, do I have any chance of escorting Charlie for such distant missions, or I should assemble an assault team within every base? * How about unanswered terror missions? At the end of the month I got surprising funding increase from the attacked region, while a huge penalty appeared from another region where I left alien base to be. Does it mean that terror attacks are low-priority? * As I had my base already attacked twice, I'm just wondering what happens if aliens attack it with Charlie and the team being out? Bierkasten
1. Terror attacks can happen anywhere, even outside your radar and you will get the option to intercept with your team. 2. Until lategame your interceptors wont have the range to escort charlie, so responding to terrorattacks will be a risk, but you can always send interceptors from other bases within range to draw enemy fighters before charlie enters the area. 3. Not sure. I think they give a huge relations penalty, but if you do enough stuff for the region you should be able to compensate. 4. The remaining people defend. If there are none the base is lost automatically.
Max_Caine
Terror attacks usually stay active after a wave has finished and you get a break inbetween each wave so if you get a Terror Attack you don't need to respond to it straight away if you're worried about your Charlie being intercepted. emes
Thanks a lot for your answers. One question more: While Charlie (or interceptor) is out on a mission the aliens attack it's home base and destroy it. What happens to the aircraft? Do I have a chance to redirect it somewhere else? What if other bases have full docks?

Aircrafts are basically extensions of the hanger so: No, that aircraft will be lost and can not be rediurected to another hanger. Depending on if Goldhawk has forseen that set of prerequesits or not that might cause some bugs or a crash if that happens
Max_Caine
I and others brought this point up ages ago. The answer is Tee Ess. If you loose your base, you loose everything attached to that base.

screeg
Do bases without living quarters or without any garrison of soldiers, or any base other than your starter, ever get attacked?
Gorlom
Do bases without living quarters or without any garrison of soldiers, or any base other than your starter, ever get attacked? Yes. but atm the deck is rigged in such a way that your older bases get attacked first/has the biggest chance to get attacked. It's to prevent the aliens from attacking a base still under construction as that would be punishing the player for random events outside of his control. Ryodan
how do the aliens actually find your bases? I'm not talking lore wise but how is it actually determined by the game?
StellarRat
I think they find them the same way you find theirs. If alien ship flies right over your base they will learn it's location. That's why it's a good idea to try to shoot down UFOs heading toward your bases. Also, you can shoot down a landing ship that is heading toward your base before it gets there or at least damage it so your missile batteries can finish it off. Dranak
I'm pretty sure there's just a chance for each wave to spawn a base assault mission, which then selects a target.
