Does your aircraft respawn?

I had read somewhere that when you lose an aircraft it just respawns after a while without having to build a new one or pay for it?

Is this true? I have been looking at getting this game for a long time and I loved the original X-Com but I have to say that will be a deal breaker for me if your aircraft just respawn.

It may seem picky but I like realisim in my games...

not really respawn. Lorewise I think that they are recovered and repaired.

I dont know if it is a 100% chance or how often that recovery happens.

Depending on how picky you are with your versimilitude you may have a lot to complain about. (Most obviously that there is an alien invasion going on, that humans manage to reverse enginer alien tech in such a short ammount of time, that the battles are turnbased and I belive most realism cravers are unsatisfied with the community made up justification for why the maps where you fly in are covered by black fog of war.)

There are a few complaints that simply won't be adressed becasue the developers plans for the gameplay is more important than someother persons's ideas of realism (which may conflict with someone completley different persons idea of realism).

They don't just immediately pop back up, it's not a get out of jail free card and "losing" planes can still hit you hard (depending on amount, frequency and timing of loses) as it can make you miss out on missions as well as provide more allowance for the aliens to rampage unopposed.

Can't remember how many times a damned Medium created a base pretty much right next to mine just to spite me...
