andyman1971
Hi, From examining various research and manufacture times of items, I was wondering if it was possible to make my scientists and engineers more efficient in their duties? Could I for example make 10 engineers the equivalent to 100 and make them 10 times faster, or would I need to adjust the research and manufacture times of all items individually? This is my first attempt at modding so please be gentle with me Cheers, Andy.
Max_Caine
The speed at which engineers and scientists work is hard-coded, I'm afraid.
andyman1971
Thanks Max, I did wonder about that. Looks like the long winded way it is then Andy.
WalrusJones
Manufacture times are NOT fixed, mind you. They operate on a system of man-days needed to construct an item. You can alter this in MANUFACTURES.XML, by dividing every recipe by ten (But leaving it as an integer, no decimals) you can get as close to the effect you want. andyman1971
Ok Walrus i'll give it a try, thank you.
Gromitek
What about research times? Lets say I would like to research electroshock granade, so the researches.xml file says that it takes 160. I have 60 scientist. So it should take 2 days nad 16 hours to complete this research. But I checked it and it takes in game: 3 days 18 hours.
Max_Caine
That's because each scientist added after the first has a diminishing rate of return. I'm uncertain what the rate is, but (as an example) it might be 99% of work done then 98% of work done, 97% etc.
