Amaror
I am currently fighting a tough fight against the alien invaders to defend my base. First Time that i meet the Terminator Aliens (I am sure you know who i mean). They are happily storming the control center and die in dozens. My Problem is: Every now and then either an Alien or one of my guys hits the controls of the door, which makes them close and i can't get them to open again. Anyone know what i can do against that? StellarRat
I think that's a known and reported bug. The only way I know to open a stuck door is blow the door with a lot of gunfire or use C4/Rockets to blast it open. Of course, if you do that, it will be completely gone for the rest of the battle which may not be what you want.
Amaror
Dammit, then i will have to try and savescum. Good thing i was smart enough to suspect some bugs would come up and didn't do ironman.
StellarRat
IMO, having doors get jammed because of gunfire is fairly realistic, but GH wants them to work all the time except for doors that are intentionally locked in ALIEN bases. Aaron
Thanks for posting this is - this is a bug, doors should always work even when damaged (otherwise you can easily get into a forced fail state).
Amaror
Yeah i solved it with a bunch of alenium grenades, so it wasn't game end for me.
Elydo
Proving once again that there is no problem that cannot be solved with the proper application of enough high explosive.

Nino
I have the same problem when im on the second floor of a Landing ship. The door never opens for me and i always have to blast my way in (which is fun as i like to pretend they are trying to lock themselves in) every time. StellarRat
...i always have to blast my way in (which is fun as i like to pretend they are trying to lock themselves in) every time.I love blasting my way in! It's a lot more fun then just opening the door and it gives me an excuse to use copious amounts of C4. I mean, really, who doesn't like blowing stuff up! You also get to splatter aliens all over the doorway and that's always rewarding too.
Osvir
Is it possible to open a door without running through it? My guys opens doors and takes one step extra, which is not always preferable.
Max_Caine
Move a squaddie next to the door, then the mouse so you get a "door open" icon (usually if you point the mouse at the corner of the door). Then right-click.

Then right-click. That was my point. You cannot open the door again, once it shuts down, because it got hit by something. There is no "door open" icon. Believe me, i have around 50 hours in the game, i am not stupid, i know how to play. Edit: Never mind me, i am indeed stupid and thought you replied to my initial post. Sorry. Max_Caine
S'okay. Funny, no-one's mentioned that opened alien doors are crushable. A vehicle will permanently destroy an opened door. Not that it helps much when closed, mind.

Elydo
I'm sure I rammed through a closed door in a base with a scout car and destroyed it. Before I stopped bothering to take vehicles on base missions.
Osvir
I blew up an alien door with a C4, well, technically. It was still intact. But when I opened it, it showed a destroyed door. The C4 was placed at a weird angle though, in the corner of the door.
RyanZA
Is it possible to blow up the red un-openable doors in alien bases? I've tried and it doesn't seem to work.. It would be a nice way to attack the aliens from two sides.
Aaron
It should be doable, but it will take some firepower - C4 or rockets are your best bet.
