19.6 bug air combat

Hello,

this is sort of repeatable,

involves 1 small (obviously scout), and two fighters.

I scrambled two Mig [foxtrot] and one f17 [condor], manual combat with regular sidewinder-avalanche(s) resulted in successful kill(s). Then CTD... In this one, condor suffered some "damages"

Later twice sorties [same manual, loadout combination], but with alienium enhanced sidewinder-avalanche(s). CTD.

with this combination, no aircraft suffered any damages (obviously due to quick shot-downing the alien ships).

yikes, same goes with medium [corvette], escorted by two very small [fighters], manual combat and CTD, after successfull kills.

There's a workaround, but it does make the game easier as it effectively stops escorts from appearing.

Browse to your Xenonauts\assets directory, and open any .xml files with "AM" in the name, such as AM_AirSuperiority. You can use a text editor or a spreadsheet program to edit them. Look for any entries with an "e:", like "e:airplane.alien.fighter", and change their corresponding value to something absurdly large. That way they won't appear in the geoscape until the heat death of the universe. This won't cause any existing escorts to disappear from a loaded geoscape game, but it will stop any more from spawning.

There is another workaround that makes the game a bit harder actually.

You have to shoot down the escort craft, disengage from the fight and intercept the now sole main ship again.

This way you can escorted craft are downable without a CTD.

Oh! In 19.5 that didn't work for me, so I didn't even try it. What'd happen is that I'd get ghost escorts and it'd still crash when I downed the UFO being escorted. Thanks for the heads up!
