(V19 - Experimental Build 3) Sending 3 x F-17s vs 3 x Fighters crashes game

I have not been able to finish a UFO Fighter fight that contains escorts yet. A squadron of F-17s sent against a squadron of UFO Fighters will crash the game every time the air combat Minigame exits to Geoscape. Once the music and everything dims down, the game crashes right away.

I also found a bug, where I sent two F-17s vs a Small Scout and then I sent another, single F-17(which was being refuelled at the time I sent the first squadron) to intercept it and both "squadrons" went into air combat and the music was "doubled", not in volume but it was like one song playing over the other, just a fraction of a second on top of the other one, like a layer. I only saw my first two F-17s in the combat zone, the other one was outside it but so close that the game brought it´s music file inside the Minigame area, lol...., very strange.

Nothing wrong with the combat though, I failed to shoot the UFO down as it is so much more OP than before. The other F-17 then engaged it, with normal music playing and I had to retreat back to base.

That´s it for the two bugs I encountered. Love the new build btw, nice to be able to see the damage done to the enemy by each attack. How about putting in a health meter above their heads next time, perhaps only seen by using a Scanner device, such as the one from the original X-COM game? :)

This bug with the Fighter wave crashing the game after having been defeated has to be top priority to be fixed soon. I have tried various methods of combating these craft and the only way to NOT crash the game is either to lose your F-17s in battle or run away. But running away, even at full afterburner speed(2250 KPH, which is 250KPH faster than the enemy Fighter speed) wont help since the squadron slows down when flying in the geoscape, even after running away from the combat zone with the enemy still on their tail! You would think that they´d keep RTB at full power to save themselves...

So naturally I keep getting caught and put into those annoying battles time and again. I cant even send my fighters to attack OTHER ufos or go on terror missions with those alien Fighter squadrons around, they home in on my Fighters every time they leave the base.

This makes the game virtually unplayable... I cant shoot them down and I cant run away from them either, so what am I supposed to do?

This bug with the UFO Fighter squadrons must be on top of your list of bugs to be fixed soon. I have tried everything and the only way NOT to crash the game in such a fight is to either lose your F-17s in battle or to run away, and if you do that then they will always catch you againKand again, even thought the F-17s are going at full afterburner speed(2250 KPH vs the UFOs 2000 KPH top speed) because they foolishly slow down after entering the Geoscape.

I cannot attack any other UFOs or go on Terror missions while those Fighter squadrons are araound, they home in on my F-17s as soon as they leave the base. If I send them back to base, the enemy squadron then "stops", hovering in place, even though the Info shows that they are travelling at 2000 KPH....

It is impossible to play the game like this, what am I supposed to do if I cannot act on the Geoscape map for fear of these Fighter attacks?

I confirm the bug found by therealtomace where 3 alien craft are defeated.

Also, I've found if I save the game twice with every passing day the number of events reduce to a fraction of the incidents that happened otherwise. I was able to delay the appearance of 3 fighters in formation by 3 weeks by doing this. The monies are improved at the end of the month as a result.

Thanks a million man, that actually works!

I destroyed only one ufo in each battle(went into battle with 3 x Fighters three times), each time I only engaged one ufo with one F-17 and let the other two RTB or just go off the map, of course the other two enemy fighters followed them but didnt catch them.

I shot down the first ufo with one Sidewinder while manouvering out of the way of his fire. The other two ufos caught up with me without me being able to go into geoscape so the minibattle window was actually open the entire time during those three battles. I went back to Geoscape after the battles with no problems. :)
