farcelet
Hello! Would someone kindly tell me whether I'm stupid? It appears the only way for me to access the experimental build is to welcome the grey bloated devil into my home - surely there's another place to download this content, right? Dranak
Experimental builds are only available on Steam as that's the easiest place for the devs to push updates through.
Max_Caine
Yup. the finished version looks like it will have several places to download from, but from a developer point of view it's easy, and from my point of view, it's easy (especially in comparison to Desura!). Xenomorph
Dont be so mean towards Steam. It can be quite useful.
farcelet
Experimental builds are only available on Steam as that's the easiest place for the devs to push updates through. I'm sure it would be just as easy to push an update onto my gmail inbox at the expense of everyone else, but FAIR ENOUGH! Yup. the finished version looks like it will have several places to download from, but from a developer point of view it's easy, and from my point of view, it's easy (especially in comparison to Desura!). Ah right. I think I read they wouldn't be using Good Old Games over some pricing issue, is that right? Anyway, thanks! Dont be so mean towards Steam. It can be quite useful. Recreational use of handcuffs can be quite useful too, providing whoever's bound enjoys being robbed of their FREEDOM!
Gauddlike
Steam is only used to download the builds. Once it is downloaded or updated you can run the Xenonauts exe without needing to use steam. You are free to choose not to use steam for anything else, there is nothing forcing you to.
