Jemar
Hello, friends! This is a questions to developers (mostly). I'm at some point of the game. Middle March 1980. Having 8 bases, with no problem shooting down carrier with fusion torpedoes. Battleships are not shootable yet, I hope 3 Foxtrots on each base will help. But now workshop is too busy. The final Extraterrestrial technology discovered - Alien Officer Interrogation (nothing written in Xenopaedia, blank box). Assault boat D-54 developed, Sentinel Armor (not shown in Xenopaedia for some unreasonable reason) and Mag weaponry developed. What are the next steps? How I can advance in game? Any Hint, Idea or else? Thank you. Playing on Veteran, Build 18.
MisterLock
Really man?Playing on Veteran on Build 18?Do you play with Sathra's mod or did you balance the build time and cost of things?Cause if you did not It's kinda hard for me to belive you made it that far into the game...especially with 8 bases...When I...the same month as you...I only have 2... For what Do I know...After you research all of the tech you are intended to do the final mission...It's not implemented yet...
Jemar
No mods. Original Build, available from Steam. V18.51 I suppose. No any cheat and hand balancing. Having 2 Foxtrots and 3 Condors each base.Except 1st. There is one Corsair there (what for i spent that money???)...Having soldiers on all bases. 6 of them equipped with plasmas and lasers more or less. Soldiers from 3 bases were actually involved in combat. Most of experience repulsing base attacks. having 2 613 143 income from all territories.having 3 260 000 month costs for all bases. In general the screenshot represents my situation. svidangel
V18 I had a whole bunch of marauders by March, I didn't even see battleships until march due to how far back the invasion ticker was pushed, actually. Lots of carrier farming through feb gave pretty much unlimited money. If you expand quickly, Vanilla was pretty easy. Just have to beat the Dec/Jan difficulty bump. Anyway, to OP, the game isn't complete. Once you can handle battleships its pretty much over till they add more working content or you mod your game. MisterLock
Well...I still like my modified game .You don't have to spend all your income from a single month to build one corsair ...in my game...
Xenomorph
Final mission is in 19 ex, and you can do it. But nothing really happens after that, there's still stuff missing.
svidangel
Heh, if you are building Corsairs at all... hopefully sathra made those more useful.
Jemar
Now I feel as I need to start over with build 19.... and play once more. I'm in bad mood giving up my soldiers in build 18.... Any possible way to transfer saves in build 19?
Mytheos
I dont think there is a way to transfer saves, and it really is a different animal (V19-2) vs v18. I think it'd be worth playing over. One tip tho, Foxtrots = King, and Corsairs = Needs improvement. 3 Foxtrots can take out nearly anything without being damaged, and what they cant (Ships larger than Bombers with 2 fighters as escort) can be cleaned up with an additional 1-2 Foxtrots depending on the missiles you're using. Corsairs can do a little more damage (I think) if they get behind a non-fighter class ship and empty their payload as another plane leads them away...however if the plane leading the ship away is a Foxtrot it can unload its payload safely, where as a Condor/Corsair cannot. So until they beef up Corsairs or rework air combat, all Foxtrots all the time is the way to go. (5 at a base should handle most everything so long as you have a few bases. ThunderGr
Any possible way to transfer saves in build 19? No.
PerfectDeath
Yea, Sartha's little mod changes how aircombat works by allowing alien fighters that can roll to properly evade, so foxtrots are not going to be able to deal with them since fighters will always fire their missiles before you can. Also, condors need to go into cannon range against fighters more often since you cannot bring enough missiles to deal with all the fighters. Outside of that, are dreadnauts in the game? I know their image is, not sure if any maps can support one though. =\
MACtic
Will it be the same situation when new version goes to steam that everyone will have to start all over again?
PerfectDeath
Probably, new updates tend to bring some new things that can break the old saves.
MACtic
Can any Dev confirm this please? I don't want to start another topic. ATM I don't know if I should continue with my current save or start playing experimental version to have saves compatible with next steam version when it comes out.... svidangel
The experimental builds probably won't be compatible with the next version either, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Assoonasitis
I'm not a dev, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that your old saves will not work because, as the devs have said at least three times, the save file data-structure changes between EVERY VERSION. This is not a hard concept to grasp, I don't know why everybody seems to have so much trouble with it.
ThunderGr
I'm not a dev, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that your old saves will not work because, as the devs have said at least three times, the save file data-structure changes between EVERY VERSION. This is not a hard concept to grasp, I don't know why everybody seems to have so much trouble with it. Because they find it inconvenient, of course. They'd rather believe that this is not the case, despite it being self-evident. When you start the game, you get the window with the latest news about the build, and there, it specifically says that V19 breaks save games. At the development thread, the devs have stated that hotfix 1 broke the save games from V19. How many times should be stated that the beta is played to be tested and not to be finished? Just don't get attached to your soldiers and efforts, people, or wait for the game release. The patches on the official release are expected not break save games. The game is still under development. All new builds are expected to break save games.
Sathra
Dreadnoughts aren't in the game anymore. If you see one, its a bug.
MisterLock
Dreadnoughts aren't in the game anymore. If you see one, its a bug. Are Strike Cruiser's in the game ?
svidangel
They should be in every version. Upgraded bombers basically
Sathra
Yes, Strike Cruisers should be in the game.
Xenomorph
They are, but just cannon fodder. But don't generate any missions.
MisterLock
So you can't shoot them down and do a ground mission?
Daringunicorn
Im pretty sure I've done a strike cruiser ground mission. They are the U-shaped ones I think.
