Anyone have a vid on taking out 3 Heavy Fighters?

Recommended Posts

I'm getting nowhere in air combat. Against 3 Heavy Fighters (or a Medium ship with 2 Heavy Fighter escorts) I've tried 2 Condors and a Foxtrot and I've tried 3 Condors. All with Alenium Missiles. I don't see how to do it. Sometimes I can knock two of them out and lose 1 or 2 of my ships if I replay the battle over and over but mostly I just lose all ships. Is it possible to do it with Alenium technology?

I really don't enjoy air combat much

I dissagre with you...I think air combat even the state it's in,the design and idea and mechanism is all in a good place...They just need to balance the damage of the weapons and personally...I think they would be done

Now...On your question...Taking Fighters out(I assume the small tier, the one above the very small fighter) is kinda wonky...Until you reach plasma explosives you can't take out 3 fighters at once...Because the alenium sidewinders are simply not powerfull enough to shot it down in one hit...and the condors are simply to weak to get into a dogfight with the fighter and win...

So you main goal should be getting better weapons and armor...And Aircraft...I prefer going for armor first, aircraft second and advanced weapons little bit later...

Also You need to be ready to produce more aircraft...Like I personally find that the space in the base is barely enough...For how many hangers I would build...Because aside from the fact that in the beggining you need atleast 3 condors to be able to take out small scouts and regular scouts...You need a space for the Foxtrot...And later in the game when you do research new aircraft you need a place to build them...And you can't just simply decomission all of your 3 condors while a corsair is building...leaving you vulnerable to alien atacks...

P.S:You need to condors with alenium sidewinders to take out a small fighter

Unless you had a different name for it. *shrug*

Okay, I have this down pretty well, I can take out 3 heavy fighters with 2 condors!

Alenium Missiles is useful to have along with Laser Gatling cannons.

At the begining, #1 and #2 should be targeting different UFOs, the other doesn't matter, just fire two sidewinders at a single target, with 4 sidewinders you can kill 2 heavy fighters.

Before you can launch those alenium sidewinders you have to get in range, these heavy fighters will fire missiles before that, so when the missiles get close pause and hit Q or E to avoid the missiles(use the cannon range as a point to evade by).

Make sure you zoom in at the begining so you can see the fighter's missiles and such.

After dodging their missiles, yours will kill two fighters, now it is 2v1. The condor that is being targeted should run away while the other condor sneakes in behind the heavy fighter to shoot it with its gatling laser.

Do watch out that while running the heavy fighter does not fire another missile. You can do a head on attack with both condors vs the one hvy fighter but it is risky. Time your evasive rolls to evade some of the hvy fighter's laser fire when doing head ons.

Against an escorted corvette, the condors can kill the two fighters easy enough but the corvette has too much HP to kill with the gatling. So a quadruple alenium torpedo barrage from a foxtrot will do the trick; however, landing craft need a little more than x4 alenium torps...

3 Migs will work just nice, one for each fighter. When you get into air combat, slow down to give torpedoes time to lock on.

The fighters will dodge the missiles, but not the torpedoes, if you're lucky, them 3 migs will survive..
