Martouf82 Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Hello guys, I found my way to the forum in frustration yet again. Had VIP in the corner, end turn and i would give the final slap. But a reaction with shotgun killed the VIP, and hitting my own guy (with the shield) in between So here is my rant of things to consider: - Reaction with chance to hit friendly need pop up box if you want to do so. Or make reaction something you have to 'set'. This is terrible. Already lost a lot of good soldiers because of this. - When starting mission, you often see one or two aliens. But I have quite a few missions that I forgot about them. All the new aliens are spotted and zoomed to, but not the first ones. Ofcourse, you see the alien icon in the interface. But it took me many missions to learn to check that icon at the first turn. Maybe have a camera zoom to them on map start? - Consider allowing positioning of squad in the soldier tab. You can only do that while starting mission. - Decommission aircraft does not give 30% sell bonus. Yes it's called decommission and not sell, but you get the money from selling parts after decommission right? If you get a bonus for selling stuff, decommissioning should be part of that - UFO's can require OP to run. Well my first few times that popped up, I pressed mission only to question later where the hell my OP went to. The OP cost is so steep that it does not make sense to run. How about, just like other UFO's you get alloys after 24h. Why not something similar here, you get money after 24h. Skip the whole you can do it for OP cost. At first you don't understand it, you fear missing loot or might not see the OP cost. Make it simple: no choice in the matter - Bring alloys from downed UFO's to main base, if storage full, go to 2nd base. I often have to transfer alloys from base 2 to base 1 for engineering. - The button to find new new recruits. The OP cost goes down to 0 Consider making that button change color when at 0 OP. - I always start in the soldiers tab to fill the ship and select the right roles for each soldier. Then go into inventory of each unit When a new mission starts, there is no link to soldier tab. Well thats it, guess i go to my dropship without a vip this time
Dren608 Posted June 17 Posted June 17 (edited) My responses to OP - long time play tester and a kick starter backer, so just my 2 cents worth. For starters the game is not meant to be obvious or easy, the tool tips were added to give the player a chance to find out stuff before doing it by trial and error. As it is most of the learning curve will be trying things that don't work To your concerns: For reaction fire, you can turn that off in a situation like this, there be eye icons on the weapons, right click and reaction fire is "off", hover your mouse over it and a tool tip explains this. Positioning of soldiers, you can always go to AC screen scroll down to drop ship and set their positions there, the Positioning at the beginning of a mission was to allow you to change things up if it was a different mission than what you normally do. as a last resort if the drop ship is in flight you again go the AC screen and can select the Drop ship and rearrange soldiers while in flight, that is 3 different time to arrange them, I'm not sure we need a 4th... When starting a mission if I can see an Alien it needs to be "dead" right away or a least suppressed if possible. Tanks and Reapers need to be "dead ASAP" Alloys to main base etc. - the game doesn't know which is "main base" they are just transferred from crash site to nearest base. When you come back from a recovery mission the resources go to the base the drop ship lands at. IT would be nice to see the recruit button change color, While we are at it can there be an alternate color scheme for the Red/Green dots on the supporters icons, Some of us have color differentiation issues (me). UFOs requiring OP to run - that is a feature to allow players to not have to go to Every crash site as a mission, gives you a monthly $ bonus besides the bounties you get for each UFO. You can turn that off in the Settings screen. It speeds up the campaign a lot because of less tactical missions, yet still allows players to go get a particular UFO if they need to get resources from it. The World powers want those resources as well for their own purposes. I'm sure someone will make a mod to deal with Decommission issue, By the time I am doing that I don't really care how much I get as it is usually a matter of just making room for the next better AC build, A little cash helps but usually isn't what I'm counting on to build something... Well thats it, guess i go to my dropship without a vip this time Dren has already answered some of these points, and it's worth saying that there's a Settings option to turn off any reaction fire that has a chance of hitting friendlies. I just wanted some clarification on a couple of the points you raised: Consider allowing positioning of squad in the soldier tab. You can only do that while starting mission. I always start in the soldiers tab to fill the ship and select the right roles for each soldier. Then go into inventory of each unit. When a new mission starts, there is no link to soldier tab. Can you explain these in a bit more detail? What are you trying to achieve and what would you like done differently? There's a good chance the game already supports what you want to do, but it's not always obvious to us what the player is trying to do and how they are trying to achieve it (because there's more than one path for assigning / moving soldiers in dropships etc).
