[v7.21.3 - Ground Combat] Loading mission save causes crash

Started a UFO crash site mission in Desert biome and eliminated all aliens, but the mission did not end. I continued to search the map (while keeping a few soldiers in the UFO) for several turns but had to leave so I saved and quit. I came back a couple days later and now the game crashes when I load the save. After reading through the recent patch notes I'm guessing I was affected by the reverted fix. This is an iron man game so I don't have other saves to go back to.
