PorT_Lobo Posted March 13 Posted March 13 It makes no sense to display Steam Feats earned in experimental versions. I also suggest adding as feats a soldier who earns all medals and especially those who finished the campaign on Ironman difficulty. In fact, for me, this game only makes sense to be played on Ironman difficulty, and those who play with load and save scams shouldn't earn a single Steam Feat.
fusion-waffle Posted March 14 Posted March 14 (edited) i reckon there's a subset of players who would feel very differently to you & would be extremely unhappy by having their achievements removed ("the devs have stolen my hard earned achievements .. " etc etc). i think goldhawk has the right idea making ironman completely optional -- some people love ironman mode and want to only play the game that way. other players e.g. hate losing soldiers and will only enjoy the game if they can save scum, or find that ironman mode takes them too long to play and that they only have time to play normal mode (& reload if they make any campaign ending mistakes rather than spend another 30 hours replaying the early & mid game). Xenonauts 2 is a single player game, not a ranked pvp ladder -- there's no harm in allowing each type of player to play how they'd like to play! in many software projects, integrations with external software systems are a common source of bugs. achievements rely on an integration with steam's servers. if the devs modify the existing code relating to achievements, there is risk of introducing new crash-to-desktop or freeze bugs that could stuff up their "1.0" release. the least-risk least-effort thing is to do nothing and leave it as-is! if you do a google search for resetting steam achievements, apparently there is a way to reset achievements for a game you own, although it isn't officially supported by steam or by any developers. so if this really bothers you personally, you could try resetting your xenonauts 2 achievements on your own steam account -- there's no guarantee it would work, but it might! Tchey Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I absolutely don't care about Steam achievements etc. However i do care about the game. I never play IronMan/PermaDeath in any game. I don't have time to lose 5, 10, 40, 50 hours... of gameplay because my computer crashed, or connexion lost, or bug, or a misclick, or even a real me error, and start again, because i'm forced to. Also it makes me take very little risk, explore less, try nothing too weird... Same idea for me with inventory drop on death, corpse run etc in adventure RPG exploration games. What i generally do willingly, is simply no save scum, no reload if i lose a battle but still can fight the war, etc. This way, i also can enjoy trying new, not ultimate, not standard, ways to play, as for 15 minutes of experimentation and a reload, i'm not losing my many "real" hours of game.
