fusion-waffle Posted February 26 Posted February 26 (edited) Description engineering screen - cannot construct phantom engine upgrade as it needs 50 alien alloys, but we have 50 alien alloys What Happened Continued my 7.x campaign with v7.3.0, wanted to try out the fixed phantom engine upgrade. Upgrade says it costs 50 alloys, I only had 40. I got my engineers to fabricate another 10 alloys. When engineers had built 50 alloys, I went to build the engine upgrade. The engineering screen showed the 50 alloys cost requirement in red, and clicking "start production" produced an error message stating it needed 50 alloys. Further Info The issue isn't preserved by saving the game and loading it again -- the upgrade can be purchased immediately after loading the f11 save, despite the captured f11 screenshot showing it not working. Please see attached f11 bug report zip: bug_report_2026-02-26-14h41_st_7.3.0_user_f11_0.zip Edited February 26 by fusion-waffle Quote

We've been looking into this one but haven't been able to reproduce it from loading user saves. Fortunately we've been able to make a repro case for ourselves, so we'll be looking into fixing this asap! Quote
fusion-waffle Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 The issue isn't specific to this phantom upgrade, it seems like it can happen when attempting to build any engineering project after producing alloys/alenium. I was hitting it frequently in the late game while playing V7.4.0, after producing resources and then trying to build interceptors / vanguard armour / misc fusion guns. Over on the steam discussion boards, VDmitry has another report of this issue, when trying to build an ARES: ([7.5.0] - couldn't build due not enough resources but I had them) Quote

We're aware of this issue and intend to get it fixed, hopefully by the next patch. 1 Quote
fusion-waffle Posted March 15 Author Posted March 15 I took another look at this issue in v7.9.0, as the changelog mentioned fixing a different engineering screen issue (the item count numbers being incorrect). But this other engineering screen issue is still present. It may be fixed for alloys though? (or i got lucky?) game version: v7.9.0 What happened had less than 50 alenium i did the "resources: alenium" engineering project repeatedly until i had 51 alenium the engineering screen blocks production of colossus automed system because it says it needs 50 alenium Please see f11 bug report zip from v7.9.0: bug_report_2026-03-15-19h04_st_7.9.0_user_f11_0.zip Quote

It is likely that the fix is good and this issue is resolved (at least in v7.12.1). This issue would often occur on my machine when using the "resources" projects to manufacture alenium or alloys. But, after an hour or so of intensive resource & armour/weapons manufacturing in a v7.12.1 campaign, I did not see this issue once. v7.12.1 Engineering screen is feeling pretty solid. 1 Quote

Thanks for the update! Yeah, I haven't experienced it either on my playthrough so hopefully it works fine for everyone. Let us know if you encounter anything else in the game! 1 Quote
