SmeggyGit
Apologies if this has already been raised. I can't find any way to change the facing of a soldier during ground combat. Is there one? Or does facing make no difference?
Solver
Works for me by right clicking a tile that you want them to face.
SmeggyGit
Works for me by right clicking a tile that you want them to face. That sucks. Seems like an enormous oversight on the part of the devs. 1. I checked - facing determines what you can see. 2. Facing seems to influence opportunity fire. Gauddlike
I am not sure what your issue is. If you want to face in a different direction just right click on a tile in that direction and your soldier turns to face it, just as Solver said. What makes you feel that this is an oversight? nutbarz
I think it worked that way with the original as well. And it takes TU's to change facing. which is why it draws reaction fire, though with the current AI, (Still have not applied Hot Fix for 18.5) they don't shoot at me unless I move. Solver
Actually in the original, you could always safely turn in place without triggering reaction fire, and I'd like to see that mechanic return, it was a very good subtle point in my opinion. SmeggyGit
This needs to be added to the manual.
GizmoGomez
I almost thought you were trolling, haha. Yeah, turning in place should be reaction fire-less.
Gauddlike
Incidentally in case you hadn't realised you can also open doors by right clicking them without having to go through. If you have someone stood beside them at least.
BonJecker
I'm new to this game and am pretty good at figuring things out on my own. However, I had to exit the game and search for this thread in order to find out how to change the direction my unit was facing. I couldn't find a help tip within the game, I checked game options (thinking there should be a key to press) and also the game manual, but nothing informed me on how to change the facing of my unit. It seems to be an important part of playing this game, so it would have probably been a good idea to take SmeggyGit's original recommendation back in 2013, and add this information to the manual somewhere. Perhaps not including this information anywhere was the referenced oversight. And now... back to my first ground assault! :-)
