Effect of "objectives" marked (Optional)?

Recommended Posts

I noticed during a cleaner "hack 10 computers" mission that there's an "(Optional) Extract before reinforcements arrive in 7 turns". Managed to extract in time, at the end of turn 7, with 10/10 computers hacked and everyone extracted. But what's not clear to me is whether that actually imparted any kind of additional reward. Because in order to achieve it I had to start moving back toward the dropship immediately after getting 10/10, whereas taking the time needed to hack another few computers and extracting at the end of say, turn 9, would have netted me a good bunch of additional operation points. I can't find anything written about this in mission description or report, nor on the forum. Any guidance on the role the (Optional) objectives play in terms of "rewards" would be appreciated.

Rewards are valid only those mentioned in briefing. e.i. rewarded is each data stick. more is merrier. that’s it. You could also grab some Cleaner weapons or bodies on your way out to sell them - it is a form of another reward.

Statement "(Optional) Extract before reinforcements arrive in 7 turns" grown up somehow organically in time. It is an information "they are going after you" rather than objective. Therefore there is no reward  to fill this "optional" objective. Do you have any idea how to change wording to reach better understanding for a new player ?

I mean just do something like "Enemy reinforcements will arrive in X turns"

This.

The whole (optional) thing just confuses things

Agree both.

I think that an Icon in front of the sentencce could also help.

Objective lines use a empty circle symbol, then information line use ... ehm information circle symbol. like this :

Personally i prefer this simple one :
