[V4.22.0 - Ground Combat] Harvester second levels are mostly empty, no real challenge inside ships.

Hello, when coming inside an harvester, first level contain a few threats (ok even if the aliens could show more preparation to an assault in my opinion)

but the second level is usually pretty empty (1 or 2 aliens maximum)

also the aliens do not seem to be able to properly use the lift (i see often aliens coming down doing nothing (they should shoot me !) ) then up then down then up again.

 

i think the behaviour of aliens inside ship and their population need some work,

currently the real challenge is out, never in the ships.

Hey there, thanks for the feedback. If you've got a save file for when the AI bugs out on teleporters, we'd love to take a look into it. Does this only happen on harvesters or does it also happen on other UFOs?

not sure about other type of ships, since there are not many ships on which aliens can use lifts (ships with a lift to a control room for instance : aliens never go down from there)

 

i think that either aliens are afraid when going down and seeing all my soldiers around, or it has to do with a blocked path that makes them go back up.

 

by the way alien never use grenades (an alien posessed soldier however will do that) : that s probably another bug.

We'll take a look into the larger ufos and see if something is going on.

Do you mean that the possessed soldier uses grenade even if it shouldn't? (i.e.: using it on a single soldier) Or that aliens don't use grenades even when they should, clumped up enemies and etc. In the latter case, there was a balance change a few patches ago where grenades randomly spawn on select aliens, I'm not sure of the exact numbers of the nades that spawn per GC mission but this can explain as to why aliens use it much less than before.

no issue with the soldier, just i am very rarely (never ?) attacked with grenades or any other exploding device by aliens.

 

this is an important tactical feature because it is supposed to avoid the player grouping all his soldiers (at the entrance of a ship for instance=).
