Air Combat Tips

I've lost a few interceptors, and was just wondering if anyone has any tips for this part of the game! Thanks for your time. My craft can shoot them down when they come upon the craft in the rear, but head on, I can't seem to down them. Rolling doesn't seem to work...

Are you saying the plane doesn't roll or that rolling doesn't avoid the missile?

MiGs can't roll. You need the F16 for that.

The rolling doesn't seem to avoid it... maybe my timing is off. It is the F16.

Hmm, my planes are still getting shot down by alien scouts in one or two shots, regardless of timing...

Have you looked at youtube "lets play" of Xenonauts for tips of how to do it?

Do you know that you can press space to pause? Are you trying to roll early or late? if the missile intersects with your craft it hits afaik. so you aren't just safe because you pressed the dodge button your plane needs to be out of the way of the missile.

If nothing of that helps I would suggest looking at the bug report forum to see if there are any reports there bout aircombat.

I've been pausing before rolling, pausing before using the evade, the enemy still hits with some sort of laser weapon, and wipes me out quickly...

Probably shouldn't be sending 1 craft onto them, perhaps, but all three?

Or just search the forum for the aircraft threads. There's one which is chocked full of the ways to win air combat under the current system very easily with only the very occasional loss.
