You would be inclined, to think that a enemy base would be chock full of goodies, but you would be wrong, as they seam to be more like Japaneses soldiers in World War 2, left on some Pacific Island, with little on on supplies, how can they be a threat to world domination, when they can't raise even bus fare!!

The current base assault missions are pretty disappointing as they haven’t add anything new to improve them. I would love to see new ways for their base to be set up like not only underground but also in huge caverns or big structures on top.

One thing that many openXCOM mods did right was to spice up the base assault by making them multi-staged. Which I think should be copied in the new game.

Alien bases should be supplied by transport ships that you can shoot down to starve them of resources. You will always have the top level with anti-air weapons, radar arrays and top side security that mimicked houses and cities. Maybe they can change based on how long you leave them alone without disrupting their supplies: 

-1 week they have 2 levels.

-2 weeks with 3 levels and beacon.

-even longer for advanced anti air, beacons and teleporters that can shoot down your fighters when they fly over it.

Forcing you to attack ASAP as the longer you wait the harder it is to destroy their base. But also give you different methods of dealing with them. You can demolish the first level of their base, disabling all defenses and then call in an air strike for la low amount of loot. Or you can risk the soldiers lives by going down to the core, clearing the base and receive massive amount of loot.
