limitation of M.A.R.S. and A.R.E.S.

Recommended Posts

When the MARS was first introduced, it became clear pretty quickly that the MARS was a bit OP when deployed in multiples, especially when people sang the praises of the MARS and told stories of how their 4-team of MARS roflstomped the opposition. So now it's a hard cap of 1. You get a juicy bit of tech on the field without facerolling the aliens.

The limit is just a number, so it's easy to change while balancing the game - but it does go up as the dropship becomes more advanced. It exists because vehicles have to be better than soldiers otherwise it wouldn't be worth researching them and spending the money keeping them upgraded, but if vehicles are better than soldiers then players would be incentivised to replace everyone with a vehicle.

I'd consider setting the limit higher, but it might mean nerfing vehicles a bit ... and I'd want to test the campaign properly first anyway, as upgrading your dropship and getting to bring an extra vehicle along would become a much less cool moment if the starting dropship could already hold several of them.

All vehicles must contain a pilot (s). Then it will be the same soldier, only "better armored". But if the tank occupies 3x3, then the firepower of 9 soldiers instead of 1 tank should be higher.

That's right, every vehicle needs a pilot. As the developers said, it is controlled by the pilot of the aircraft. The initial aircraft has one pilot, Pegasus - two, Valkyrie 3 pilots.

Each vehicle occupies one tile like a soldier.

The problem is that soldiers move in the same way as transport, and therefore tactically do not differ from transport. It is necessary to make sure that the soldiers can crawl. (Or at least the ability to lie down). Such a soldier will be qualitatively different in its tactical capabilities from the transport (1x1), the advantage of which is only in heavier weapons.
