maxm222
I just was handed a defeat after about 3 turns without losing a single soldier (see screenshot below). Four members of the "local defense" are still alive. All the civilians are dead, apparently--most of which I never saw. Was I defeated because of the civilian deaths? Previous to this battle, civilian deaths had no impact on the outcome. Thanks for any clarification.
Coffee Potato
What kind of mission was this?
maxm222
It was a terror mission with the map that looks a bit like a town center with some stores, a walkway, outdoor tables/chairs, etc. First time I had that particular map for a battle. Alienkiller
It´s like the same what Terrorists do in our real World too. Such Terrorist People ignore Local Forces, Police, Military etc. and attack the Civilians, which are the least. In Terror Missions the Aliens have the Mission to kill Civilians and Police / Local Forces. They ignore your Soldiers, so you have to hurry up to save the Local Forces as well as especially the Civilians.
domein
Loss on turn 3 is a bit silly, guess this is why that other xcom game was forcing aliens to miss all the shots on civilians after two were already killed on the current turn
Fritz1776
Looks like they killed all the Civies, which is a loss condition. Sounds BS if it was only 3 turns, but that's pure imbalance, not a bug or anything.
Ruggerman
One would think that the Civies would run away from the alien threat, but not in this world. They seem to hang around and get in the way, can't the programmes write a script to have them move to safety.
maxm222
Exactly. If they're civilians they ought to hide and stay put, or run towards the drop ship, or run behind the X's "battlefront." if they're civilian soldiers and disorganized/demoralized, they should act like civilians; if not, they should at least take cover and shoot with a weapon equivalent to a pistol or something. Dangermouth
I can beat that. Moved my troops out of the 'copter. Game over. This happens a lot, as does 78778899758917851550750495572897589157171895751854 aliens all rushing you at once. The screen was full of little red alien faces. Ruggerman
This seams to happen quite frequently, and shouldn't happen at all, as the only ways you should be able to loss is if 1. you retreat and abandoned the game, and 2. you are wiped out. The loss of civilians is not a good out come, but while their aliens to hunt and trooper to hunt them, the game should continue. Coffee Potato
Partial victories would be nice as well. I've always wondered why we couldn't send another team for that one last Sebillian bleeding in the generator room.
