xcom
low priority - please remake the artwork/drawing for the end-combat screen (the one that says who died and who survived) and the main game menu artwork too (new game, load, quit). I really don't like them. What i don't like is the persons faces. Edited May 13, 2012 by xcom
thothkins
Too cheery? I like them. No one is having a good time out there. In the retrieval screen you can just tell the guard is thinking "Bloody alien tech has just made me sterile. I know it has." Personally, I like them and would like to see them themed throughout. See Research Screen for comments.
IceVamp
Yup. They're pretty good. It's the feeling the game is going for. Though I hope mission complete screen will be dynamic along with research (or better, production) like has been suggested for other screens. flashman
It might change with the UI art, it might not. The game is going for the grim look, its not pleasant, its war and we are losing
xcom
Well, the soldiers faces looks like both are the same, and the same goes to the officers on the main menu (too similar, and IMO they are ugly too - are these supposed to be Soviet officers ? (please no offense intended)). Just my 2 cents. I'm a bit surprised no one has mentioned this before.
IceVamp
Hehe, everyone is free to have their opinion. I would rather have grizzled veterans advising me in the command centre, rather than a bunch of playboys.
Akrakorn
I personally like both pictures and I don't see why they should be removed. Creating more artwork would mean they waste time when they could be doing other important things.
Stromko
Yeah I'm liking the art as well. Not every game has to have pretty characters, and I think the grim characters work very well for the setting. edit: They do have pretty characters as well actually, that woman in the funding screen is nice. Somehow the bags under her eyes just make her better. So the ugly people are an artistic choice, yo, and I respect that. Moonshine Fox
I find them to be really good. They're really into the whole 70's cold-war setting. They look grim, scrawny and "business". So I for one, do not want them replaced. looks great and immersive.
Shima
Both screens are very fitting to the atmosphere of the game and I like them a lot. Though not everyone can be pleased, of course. The mission report art changing is great idea! More art like this! Even Hidden Movement one could get more variations, that would be great
