    So you say you have come across a facehugger lol? Yep, these are annoying, though very fragile. Same as with Reapers (the other guys that can zombify your soldiers) you just need to keep your distance and use vehicles for spotting - when you spot them, you can withdraw the tank and use the snipers/rocket launchers. Also, I use a lot of incendiary grenades as an area denial means - many aliens will die walking through flames, but many will try to walk around it and gives you valuable time. Honestly, in some longer missions, I just bunker up - drop smoke grenades in possible routes and try to lure the enemies out. 

    And yes, you need to take it slowly, create a parameter and methodically push it forward - this way you will always have your enemy in front of you, so no nasty surprises will hit you from behind. There is no best method, it will have to come with experience I am afraid. Also, make sure you have a diversified arsenal, all laser/all ballistic/etc usually means that you may come across an enemy that will be veeery difficult to kill.

Well, if you didnt have a correct modloader before really anything can happen, especially the research file is very prone to errors. So if you basically had a different research file, or a different merge then the current currect one does not merge correctly either.

Starting a new game is really the only way to make sure.

The update may have broken the savegame for all people who didnt have a correct installation in the first place. Evaluating in how many ways this could be broken is beyond any limits.

Tnx for tips.. Problem was that map is full of some kind of large boxes + lots of other things, so i didnt had clear view. He crawled just around some box and bite me.. HAHAHA

 

Yeah, i have great weapons and i dont go with just lasers, i mix things..

There is a very large (usually) ugly xenomorph waiting for you when you shoot the zombie down............................ First time i encountered one of those  already knew what they'll do cause I watched the Aliens series...hahahaha

Yesterday I stopped playing for 6 hours because of that small facehugger. when i finally had curage to continue and load the game, i killed couple of enemies and then i saw some large ugly alien coming at me. I am 38, but i was screaming in terror when i saw that beast. :) And how many Wraiths are in that mission ? Right now one of them killed my fav soldier Lee Marvins Son and after that 3 of my soldiers went panic ( and i have at least 5 majors in that squad, im angry that majors go panic after one soldier is down) .  And whole mission aliens doin PSI on my squad, dont know how to fight against that. :( Before Lee Marvins Son died , he went out of control, had to move all of my soldiers from him.. aaaaaaaaaaaaa ( in despair ).

I turn off caesans psi powers. They are so annoying

Ok, so ive been playing xdivision for the past week and ive got to ask a few things

 

First of all its awesome, even tho its really brutally hard.

 

How do you deal with alien bases early in the game?  I have Division guns, jackal armor and defender "tank" and the aliens just took one of my bases ... I went there with my best 8 man squad and a defender and found it next to impossible to advance within the base. How do you beat their bases? Is it even possible at this tech level or do I need to ignore them initially?

Also, how do you make money in here? It seems to me that ufo crashsites produce next to nothing and selling the various resources seems counter productive. 

 

When should I be going after terror missions ideally? I've tried a few of them at different points in the game and i failed horribly. There are way too many aliens and they usually have discs (sorry idk how they are called) and tanks and the like ...

Alien Outpost is Phase 2, Base Phsae 3, and Fortress Phase 4. It is a clever test for people to understand that leaving overpowered enemies alone until they can beat them is the right thing to do. It also is a wonderful practice ground to press the "Abort mission" button if you didnt have enough practice before that - I borrowed this great words of advice from Rowan Atkinson.

Alien Fighter and UFO Datacores make the most money. Since their materials are also needed for various manufactures your skill of handling geoscape and ground combat decisions will determine how much money you will make. Additionally shooting down UFO will grant you a relationship bonus in that country, and additional 50% will be given for each successful Crashsite. Good luck.

Terror missions are hard and test your whole campaign to the maximum as they are designed to. While being the pinnacle of achievements of your skills they are not impossible to beat but rather a test of your skills and knowledge of the game. Multiple people have shown that every Terror Mission is beatable with the right amount of preparation and skills. They are also not game ending in any way and countries are recoverable, so even if you find yourself in a pinch you can outshine the aliens elsewhere, although not forever, at one point you will have to deal with Terror UFOs.

Looking through the alien base AI im not quite satisfied yet. The actual code is good, even more so that it also is the same AI which defends the UFO, but the sight range of 60 make them too aggressive for an alien base. I would have liked for them to be a bit more passive and waiting. Unfortunately there is no real fix and the AI is good enough to pass X-Div standarts.

I kind of like it this aggressive. I mean when smb invades your home sweet home you tend to be rather aggressive, don't you? And anyway it has been somewhat toned down compared to what it was, because of the new aim sets. aliens tend to like keeping a distance so they will stand their ground more often then before. maybe you should put more of them, some in a passive defensive state if that is even possible. should be 35% rush you, 35 % spread through the rest of the base and 30% guarding the command room. I can do a couple of runs on the fortress if you let me, see what data you can collect?

Bug report: Like the old medkits, Axe Mk-1 (possibly all two-handed melee weapons?) can be duplicated, and overwrite whatever's in the secondary hand. 

Reproduction steps:

  1. Open inventory
  2. Drag Axe Mk-1 into primary hand (it registers as a one-hand item, like the knives do)
  3. Close inventory
  4. You'll note the equipment tile changes to reflect only one two-handed item, the Axe Mk-1
  5. Open inventory again
  6. Drag axe from secondary hand to ground

 

NOTE: This is totally not a big deal -- I'm already used to the workarounds from the old medkits. However since you were able to fix the medkit 1-or-2-hand issue, this might also be an easy fix.

Another bug report (sorry, @Charon & team...)

This is an intermittent bug, hard to reproduce. I figured it out after a handful of force-quit, load, try again attempts.

Reproduction steps:

  1. Identify one of two types of Xenomorph (facehugger OR what looks like a xeno drone but with a gold face)
  2. Advance a soldier into an adjacent tile as though you're about to conk the alien with a shock stick
  3. SOMETIMES (1 of 4 or 5 attempts?) the game will freeze -- totally locked, must force-quit from outside Xenonauts and try again

This ONLY happens at melee range, in adjacent tiles. Possibly occurs more often when xenomorph FACES the soldier rather than facing away. I'll try some variations and see whether I can detect a pattern.

I THINK the xenomorphs are attempting a reaction attack at melee range, and a missing asset (animation, sound effect?) freezes the game. 

Save file attached. There's a gold-faced drone in the southeast corner of the central building, and a facehugger somewhere on the second floor of the same building.

Yo welcome back @axmangeorge:).

#axeproblem Yes the axe can be dublicated, so can a lot of other weapons. We know about it. There is no obvious fix for this since we actually want axes to be 2 handed. I have a different fix in mind for another problem which might fix this too, but i holding off with it for now because it definitely breaks all saves. Maybe for the .5 version.

#meleefreeze This is the same bug as you reported earlier with the reaperbulls, melee reaction fire causes teh game to freeze. This only happens when you reloaded the GC at least once and thuse should tell you that the nature of this bug lies in how the game loads an GC save, and cant be fixed on our side.

Bug reports dont bring us down, they make me happy that people love this game enough to hand in bug reports :).

 

Offtopic, any reason you dont like to upgrade to the .41 version ? Its majorly different than the .4 one and since you are not running the official modloader priority there could be issues but on the other hand the AI is more brutal if you are missing that lately. Also all UFO contents have been revised so you will have a different game. If you are lacking challenge definitely try it out.

3 questions.

First , im in February, doin ok , Suave tips helped me a lot, but i still have only have fox armour. How can i open next armour , who to stun ? I have all kinds of weapons, opened laser and ultimate / mag weapons.. but im stuck on fox armour and its getting really hard.

 

2nd q , i cant find enough alien stun granades, so i in last few months i cant produce stun granade or rockets .. What alien is giving me a. stun granades and do i have to stun him to get few ? 

3rd q, i Still only have Asierus and Foxtrot, no new planes .. is that normal ? Im doin ok in airfights, just asking..

Thats good to hear, but odd. Your modloader clearly states you are playing the .4 version + .33V of Charons Changes. And the exe is outdated too, it should be 0.34.3 23/7/2017. So i guess you just reused your old picture.

Physician?? What is it? Early specialist? Or he is not present in Scouts and corvettes?
