Betuor
The games that disappointed me recently are an interesting bunch. The first one for me would be the new Alien game. The AI can do some pretty stupid things. And, I don't really want to get too nitpicky but the ultimate predator should be able to sense me under a table or in a locker. That a for some reason the people look weird to me. I know others say it look beautiful and I will admit the aesthetics of the levels look nice but the people just look like there is something off about them. Maybe it's just some uncanny valley stuff. Also, I will admit I did enjoy Aliens more than Alien so I would have been more happy with just another game like Colonial Marines but without the problems that that game had. (I also feel like that game would have been better received if it didn't do the thing with that demo being way better. People complained about you fighting humans more in that game than you did aliens but you do about the same in this game as well.) I was a little disappointed recently with how the new Dragon Age handled its tactical view. Really made for a console. But I did find out that it had an interesting multiplayer so that kindof made up for it. The only other thing I was really disappointed about recently was that the new Xenoblade game doesn't have a specific release date. That and the fact that GTA V will be $60 when it's released for the PC. Won't be getting that any time soon. Some of my friends are upset at me for not wanting to get it as soon as it comes out but I don't want to pay $60 for a game that came out over a year ago just so that I can do multiplayer with my friends. ventuswings
This War of Mine. It is a good game, but the static event system combined with the fact that previously visited areas never change eliminate lot of potential. I can see why devs might have done it since losing due to RNG can be frustrating, but war isn't something you can perfectly plan for from the very outset... dpelectric
That's interesting. I was considering buying that, since it got rave reviews across the board on Metacritic, but after watching a number of LPs I wasn't that impressed. Seems like the devs focused on the emotional side of war (which deserves major kudos for uniqueness) but the gameplay itself is less than stellar. Guess I'll wait for a sale (just like I am for Wastelands 2 and Shadowrun)
drages
Sots 2... Sots was my fav 4x game and I rly got very high hopes for 2. But it was a disaster. . Sadly the company tried to make some thing more then they can chew.. it was even my first pre-order and I learned my lesson well.. never give money to an unpublished game.. even don't give money before read enough forums.. I prefer go for finished things..
ooey
War thunder I guess. Not because it isn't a great game, but because they mix mouse users with joystickers. Mouse equates to point and click, where as stickers get stalls and spins. It is very unfair.

I enjoyed it a lot later (actually I'm still enjoying it - just started a game this weekend ) - yes, it did take them quite some time to fix it, but in the end they did get it working (at least in my opinion)

StellarRat
Spore and Sim City 5. Spore was just incredibly boring after the first run through, but it was an expensive and much hyped game. I pre-ordered it, big mistake. Sim City 5 was a game I was really, really looking forward to. I loved Sim City 4 and wanted so much to have a modernized version, but EA managed to ruin it completely and utterly. Like they've done with most of the companies they bought. Fortunately, having learned my lesson from Spore I didn't pre-order and when the deserved horrible reviews came out I decided not to get it, a no brainer at the time. It was/is probably the worst reviewed game in Amazon history. If you go out and look at the Amazon reviews you'll get a chuckle at some of stuff that was written. Msvknight
Who expects anything from the sequels nowadays? I don't for one, i loved silent hunter 1-2, 3 i was still a fan boy, and the game itself was quite good, (even better with mods), silent hunter iv, was meh, and i never played SH v, cause of the DRM
Dix
Master of Orion 3, definitely - never understood how it could have worse ship graphics than Moo2. Never mind the UI. Supreme Commander - it was still a fun game, but.. Total Annihilation was one of my all time favourites, partly due to the soundtrack, but in large part due to the 3d terrain that let you do all sorts of things - combined fire/airbases on top of mesas dotting the desert, hiding artillery platoons behind a mountain range and then spotting targets with scout planes, having short range turrets ringing the inside of your caldera base where the enemy would have to come into their range before getting a shot off. Not to mention the mission where I had to assault a mile-high planetary-wide plateau that was swarming with enemy units and was to steep for almost any of my units to climb. The terrain become effectively a non-factor in SC, with no real features to speak of beyond water/land, and no real way to use it to your advantage. It just came down to who can build faster. Betuor
I loved SupCom because of the improvements, especially in FA, and the experimentals were pretty sweet but I was disappointed by its sequel. That wasn't in the same style as the previous. I also liked Spore. I replayed that many times. But apparently everyone else hated that game. But I have always liked Maxis. Except for what they did to Sims 4. It did seem to be even a step back from the base of the 3rd game. Other than that it was mostly what I was expecting. My expectations might have also been low because they had just gave away the complete version of Sims 2. Still pretty good.

Fr8monkey
Spore. The game had so much potential; but was "dumbed down" to gain a wider audience.
Max_Caine
Civ: Beyond Eath is currently my most dissapointing game. It feels like it's all flash with surprisingly little depth, or explanation. I can see where ideas started, but nothing seems to have fully formed. StellarRat
SimAnt still resides on my HDD I played a lot of SimAnt on the Commodore Amiga! That brings back some old memories! Speaking of the Amiga, I vaguely recall that the sound track for UFO Defense was much better on the Amiga. It was much more "creepy" and had real stereo sound. Msvknight
Spore. The game had so much potential; but was "dumbed down" to gain a wider audience. Yeah. I actually found the first 2 stages of evolution the best, as they were based more on survival. The rest of the stages in my opinion were more, either kill them, or talk to them. I also just noticed that dumbed wasn't in my computer's dictionary.

I actually think it is more for a overpriced expansion pack. Kinda like the Alpha Centuri mod for Civ4. But i think that Alpha Centuri is more fleshed out than the new civ. Because many people think that it is more like a repaint of Civ5 with some new bits added The only thing that has stopped me for getting it, is the price tag. I would probably have gotten it if it was $20. But not at its $60 dollar price tag.
