TheJtol
Hey all, I've attempted to install CE via the Beta tab in Steam under properties, and the title of the game became Xenonauts [community] after its first launch but for some reason the game has remained unchanged. I've reinstalled it and tried the process again- to no avail. Any advice on how to get it to work?
kabill
Haven't seen any issues like that reported. Just to be sure: what are you using to determine if it has installed (if you load up the game launcher it should say that it is the community edition in the top right corner if it has installed correctly). TheJtol
It doesn't say that- it just looks like the default launcher. There hasn't been any notable change besides the title changing to incorporate [community].
TheJtol
Furthermore, for some reason the beta selection drop down keeps resetting after I reload Steam. Is there any way to confirm the switch?
Chris
Unfortunately you can't do X:CE with Linux via Steam - the game is wrapped in a WINE wrapper, which means Steam can't change the files within. It's the same reason why installing mods on Linux is a nightmare. V1.5 Stable will arrive on Linux and Mac via Steam at the same time as it does for Windows, though, so it's probably best just to wait for that given it contains the majority of the X:CE improvements. TheJtol
Understood, thanks for the quick response!
llunak
You can install X:CE "manually" by installing it as mods, see X:CE release announcements for instructions. It's also possible to simply run the Windows version (including Steam) using Wine.
