  1. i'd like to edit the classic xcom music mod to play the xcom music alongside the xenonauts soundtrack rather than replace it. i've also tried adding more music in a mod of my own but it doesn't play in game. the format is ogg but if the bit and sample rates matter they are 1536 at 48000Hz sounds_gc.xml
  2. I found the Xenonauts ost to be a bit boring. Originally Phoenix Point was only going to have Broomhall, but thanks to feedback, Both Broomhall's and Simeon Dotkov (their sound director), will have music in the final soundtrack. This track is excellent and sets the tone very well. Is there any chance X2 will have a more electronic, sci-fi sounding score?
  3. Hi to Chris and Goldhawk! I am curious what route you guys intend to go with the soundtrack (if it's not already developed). There is an obscure composer who I would recommend simply because no one's hired him in forever but his music was weird and interesting. Bruce Faulconer, who did the original DBZ music from 1999 to the early 2000's. Here's a selection of songs. Obviously they won't fit X2 perfectly, but some elements of the songs might. https://1drv.ms/f/s!AheBYtPQpTPihcZjSsn2Tc7e2e874g

  6. I like both games, the depth of xenonauts is better, but music and pace of xcom is better. So I felt the absence of the xcom music very much in plaing xenonauts so I decided to give it a go. Now, battles are with a better beat and depressing music of xenonauts is gone. here is the link for files: http://www.mediafire.com/download/c93jgbw86s1kvjs/xcommusic.zip
  7. I just messed around with changing the music in the game. Unfortunately there is only one .ogg file per situation in game. IE: only one file for ground combat, night combat, geoscape, etc. It would be really cool if you wrote it so that the game would call on a short list of random soundtracks whenever a track ends. For example, in daytime ground combat, it calls up Ground Combat 1 only. If it could be changed to randomly select from a series of "Ground Combat #" files, that would be awesome. It wouldn't matter if all of the files were the same one right now because the user could insert various .ogg files in place of the randomly called file. Basically, it allows a player to insert their own soundtrack into the game as long as they can convert files to .ogg files.
  8. Hello, fellow 'nauts. I know Chris and his team have limited copyright powers, so I'm piecing together a little mood music "mod". For those of you who already have been doing this, I suggest you try this one out for yourself. This is mood music (no lyrics) that I think emphasizes the mood of the game. It will feature music by Two Steps From Hell and Evil Cult (the browser game). I have confirmed that my method works and does not harm game files and all I have to do is change some file formats and names and will have it up on here in the next couple of hours. Putting the music in the game will be easy as drag and drop.
  9. So this is the song I play while continuing my Apoc game. And I play this one for Xenonauts. Bet you all feel more sane now!
  10. I think Chris should hire me as the new in charge of all music person. I clearly have potential. : I couldn't be bothered to run it all though a mixer and sort the levels out since it's just for a play around after all. I got as far as side chaining the kick with the bass and gave up. maybe one day I will have a real go at remixing the midi files of xcom. Some kind person has even posted up the TFTD midi files on ufopaedia for me to mutate. https://soundcloud.com/davidjlogue/xcom-geo-win-thelog-remix
  11. I feel stupid for requesting something like that (because the ingame music rocks and who turns sound effects off?) but when I tried to turn off the music, I could only set the volume to 1 as a minimum. It would be nice if the minimum was 0 so the game music and other sources don't mix. Before anybody starts throwing stones: Was was working with the leveleditor and listening to mp3s. And when I tested the maps I just happend to notice that you can't mute the music in Xenonauts. It just doesn't feel right to have an ingame volume control panel without the possibility to mute something.
  12. Did the music for the overworld view use to be different than it is now, in the earliest releases? I haven't played in a long time, but I remember there being different music, something that I found really enjoyable to listen to as opposed to the more ambient grim style that I hear now when I loaded it up. Am I mis-remembering, or was the tune changed at some point?
  13. I am in the process of modding xcom to make some videos but the website xcomufo.com has been taken down. I am wondering if anyone knows a SECURE link to a mp3 download for the ps1 xbox music. I would just go ahead and download some but this time last year I got infected with vistapsyware2012 malware for downloading xcom muisc for modding purposes.I don't much fancy being locked out of my computer again. (No thanks to malware bytes PRO for helping) Alternatively, does anyone have the mp3 music they could send over, would be much appreciated
  14. Was thinking that Like all military outfits, the Xenonauts would have some kind of song they'd sing. I was wondering what you guys think it would be. I had an idea in my head of doing a modified "Blood on the Risers" lyrics, changing it from being about a paradrop to a terror mission of course. Anyone have any thoughts on the subject?
  15. I love it. I remember the eerie, spacey soundtrack to the original game and while it is definitely a different style it built suspense. The Firaxis XCOM is a game that I love but it's music is totally cheesy, campy, action film music. The music in Xenonauts is suspenseful like the original but much more traditional at the same time. I love it. It's not as spacey but it reminds me of a horror movie. I remember watching the WTF is Xenonauts video a long time ago and they mentioned it is the guy behind the Amnesia soundtrack as well. Great choice getting that guy. I love the game and the music really goes great with the artwork and sound effects. Extremely suspenseful and very awesome.
  16. I've been listening to Xfm out of London and wondering if there are any other alt rock stations in England worth listening to. Also been listening to the Phantom out of Dublin so definitely Ireland as well. I get them on the Tune In app for my phone. Xfm tends to get a little repetitive after a while.
  17. http://ns21.hosteur.com/~parall/9.ulysse31str/ulysse31str.htm Thoughts anyone? EDITED for tracks: For Geoscape/Combat mission: Track 1 beginning up to 0:30 Track 3 Track 4 Track 6 Track 7 beginning up to 0:20 For Aerial combat: Track 2 Track 5 Track 8 after 0:55
  18. How's the music in the game being handled? I watched a few LPs and noticed the more sinister tone of the music (especially when compared to UFO Defense's rather cheesy music). Xenonauts is certainly looking and sounding good. I'd like to know what's been done and if there's anything else coming.
