  1. I expect many of you will already know each other from the pre-migration forums, but if you're a newbie who has made his way here then by all means please introduce yourself and let us know a bit about you. I'll get the ball rolling - I'm Chris, the project lead for Xenonauts, and I'm based in London. I used to be an accountant, but I'm now working full time on Xenonauts. I started working on this game just over two years ago now when it was a labour of love, but I think by now it just counts as a labour... Only joking, I'm actually quite enjoying this game development lark!
  2. So, this is not a "proper bug" with the game itself, which is absolutely great, especially with the additions from the community modders. Sure, it has it's limitations that has been exposed a couple times already, but it is due to its engine, but that's not the point of the post. I don't know where else to post this, but this is a quite annoying problem, that while gives me a lot more headache I'm patient enough to bypass, but I can imagine not everyone, especially the newcommers are willing to do so. Every single google link for the forums redirect to the [Archive] portion of the forums, which simply does not work. So, any doubt or information I might want about the game I am redirected to a broken site like this. I can take the post number and title and use the search engine here, but it really shouldn't be necessary. I don't know if you guys can fix this, maybe redirect the [Archive] links to the proper forum post, but I really hope this is fixable, because it can be extremely annoying to google info about the game.
  3. Currently attachments seem to be broken, clicking on "Manage Attachments" just shows an error in the window which pops up:
  4. The forum medals / pre-order badges are no longer available, sorry - they were a reward for the people who pre-ordered Xenonauts in alpha form (i.e. before the Steam Early Access release)! We actually would have liked to keep supporting them, but unfortunately it is not possible. We've had discontinue them is because they were linked to forum membergroups via Desura when we only sold through Desura, so anyone who bought a copy of the game was able to connect their Desura account to the forum and get a badge for doing so. We now sell primarily through Steam, and support other sales channels such as the Humble Store as well as Desura (and will add more in future). Therefore most people that buy the game will not have a Desura account, so would not be able to claim a badge. We don't want to cause arguments or make people feel like they've missed out by buying the game in the "wrong" place, so we decided to discontinue the forum badges at the point where Desura was no longer our only sales channel. Those who already have them will not be stripped of them, but will retain them as a thanks from us for supporting the team in the early stages of development when, frankly, they were taking quite a major leap of faith to buy the game! The comments in this thread all relate to the old claiming process. I have closed it to new comments now.
  5. hi everyone ok i have earnt three musketeers achievment....go me yeah ..! so since i only have 1 friend listed which of you out there are my other two secret friends? come on show yourselves.. anyone else who has secret friends let me know or if know issue please tell me...
  6. Is there a way to do this? The US-style date system boggles my little mind and I'd like the option to change it. I've looked in each page of the forum settings, but I can't see one. Any help?
  7. Hi, I hope this topic will not be burned and buried, I just wanted to say how excited I am to see a tremendous amount of traffic recently on the boards. I am not a frequent poster myself, rather a lurker, but I check new posts several times per day. In the past few weeks I noticed that there are 50-100 new posts every time I log in (that is 3-4 times per day). The total post count is over 18,000. And this is the current forum user activity just past midnight in CET: "There are currently 260 users online. 50 members and 210 guests" WOW! I am getting a good vibe - and I just noticed that v10 is out! Keep it up, Goldhawk team!
  8. I couldn't access my own thread so I started experimenting. This is what the link originally looks like: http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php?1246-Baldur-s-Gate-Enhanced-Edition-%28No-it-s-not-a-kickstarter-p%29 %28 and %29 are the brackets (they are actually displayed as brackets but when I pasted the link they turned to code). What I did was simply delete the bolded part (including the dash after "1246") and I could access the thread. That's it really. Later I got a 404 when I tried posting in it and got around it with a similar workaround but then I noticed I had double posted so it appears that even if you get a 404 when posting the post still gets successfully...posted. This isn't perfect obviously as it requires you to constantly make adjustments to links that don't work but maybe the info can be used to "fix the site" for good.
  9. I think the title says it all. I have seen quite a few posts recently with (brackets) or plus+ symbols that will not open. They give an error 404. I don't think I am the only one having this problem so please be aware when you make a new thread. Any other characters or symbols causing a problem for people?
  10. Where do i post or who should i PM about forum experience not updating? not really a big deal but its kinda bugging me.
  11. I saw that I got my 7 day achievement award. Yay! I clicked on the notification to check it out and it said only 28% of the people made it to this milestone. Ouch! I've had more xenonaut troopers survive their first week.
  12. To celebrate moving to the new forums, I have decided to elevate a moderator from the unwashed masses to help me take care of the forums. Perhaps unsurprisngly, I've chosen Sathra, the only user who managed to accumulate more posts than I did on the old forums. Accordingly, he has now been granted god-like powers to help him in his heroic fight against spambots and people unable to use the forum search function. In reality, this isn't going to change a great deal. I'll still be active on the forums, but it just means that there's someone else about who can help with the basic administration on the boards. The forum has been very well behaved over the past two years and unless vBulletin has an inbuilt idiot magnet that I've yet to come across, I see no reason why we won't continue to have an excellent community. While he has the power to delete threads and ban people, I've no doubt Sathra will use his judgement wisely. However, if you do have a problem with him for whatever reason, you can get in touch with me about it. But in the meantime, please treat him with the respect he deserves.
  13. One should not be forced to have awards + achievements displayed with every post. They clutter up the area that identifies the poster with colourful fluff that is completely irrelevant to the post. Ideally, there should be two additional settings. - A privacy setting to limit who gets to see any of my achievements + awards. - A general setting to hide the entire achievements + awards section when displaying threads.
