  1. OK i know we already had a topic about it a long time ago, but the game has envolved so much after all those pathces that it IMHO deserves a new one I just saw that Paradox has a weekend sale on Steam and that mean that all Paradox titles are at least 50% off (SOTS2 included ) So if anyone was waiting on a chance to get it cheap - here it is The game is stable and IMHO a lot of fun even currently, and Kerberos is still working hard on it (though Mecron mentioned that the next patch might be the all clear, but even after it they'l provide support for years as far as I know them).
  2. ROME 2 was announced yesterday. While I'm loving Crusader Kings 2, TW is something special. I'm soooo stoked about this!!!!! Story: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/07/02/total-war-rome-2-preview/ Live action trailer:

    Skyjacker

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/digitilus/al-skyjacker So I think this game looks rather awesome. Am I wrong? .-.
  4. Hi guys! I just came across this game, looks really interesting and fun. Gonna download now. Anyone here played this? [video=youtube;Q_gcbM9TSOk] It will help killing time until Xenonauts's release!!
  5. Anyone getting it? It's a civ-like hex-based tbs with a 1UPT (One Unit Per Tile) combat system. The interface is snatched from Civ V (because it's a good UI) but, despite visual similarities, the game uses the engine from InoCo's "Fantasy Wars/Elven Legacy" series. Empire management is simpler (though still significant) compared to Civ games and the emphasis is placed on exploration, fighting and researching/casting spells. Units can level up and be further upgraded/enchanted, there's multiple victory conditions, rudimentary diplomacy, portals to other worlds, special map resources, customizable civ-like random map generator, etc. The game is set in Ardania (the Majesty universe) and it features the Sean Connery-like narrator/advisor, three factions (humans, monsters and undead), quests, Ardanian gods (Krypta, Agrela, Lunelord, etc.), customizable wizards/leaders and many of the art assets seen in the Majesty 2 game. Official site: http://www.paradoxplaza.com/games/warlock-master-of-the-arcane TB's WTF: Paradox CEO playing the game: http://www.twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive/b/316236708 (feel free to skip the first 60 secs) Pre-order on GamersGate or Steam (the page appears in Italian when linked to for some reason but don't worry) for 20$. Steam has a demo as well (50 turn limit). The game will be released tomorrow (the 8th) so there's little time to pre-order. The only advantage to pre-ordering is you get their first dlc (it's already available) for free. There's no multiplayer atm but it's going to be patched in later on (during Summer time probably). Questions?
  6. The Space Simulator genre is defiantly one of the best and under appreciated out there. One little gem that I play to death occasionally is Escape Velocity: Nova - a game that went under everyone's radar most likely... And another which is still in Beta 0.5.0 'NAEV'. It seems to be coming along nicely, the devs have taken a lot of inspiration from Escape Velocity while improving on a lot. It's also free Any of you guys have a favorite?
  7. If there are any fans of Star Control 2 on here, You might be interested to know that there is a couple of mods being made on "The Ur Quan Masters" code (the freeware code for the 1992 game). The first one in the HD mod, bringing the old game up to date with current graphics. Take a look at some of these: If you like that, the second mod is a fan made sequal... or expansion to the Starcon2 game. The below link is to the demo, which is already out. http://code.google.com/p/project6014/wiki/Downloads?tm=2 Here's a Vid. [video=youtube;lQBQYi88AAI]
  8. I have been playing a few games of Panzer corps, and have to say it's the best war game (old school type) I have played. It's a remake of a game called Panzer general. Anyway there's a demo for anyone that is interested. http://slitherine.com/games/panzer_corps_pc

    Roguelikes!

What are some of your favorite roguelikes? I recently started playing DoomRl and am completely obsessed. The game has recently had a tile set made for it by Derek Yu, the creator of Spelunky. Anyone who is a fan of Doom or Roguelikes should check it out!
  10. Not sure if there are many others on these forums who have played Star Control 2: The Ur-Quan Masters, but I decided to make this thread anyway, in case someone would be interested. So, I became real giddy when I saw these videos a while ago: (conversation with a race called the Lurg) (intro video)After doing some reseach, I found out it's a fan-made mod "sequel" to SC2. I am SO looking forward to this, and based on the high quality of the demo I recently tried, I'm fully prepared to accept this as canon instead of that horrible pile of excrement called Star Control 3. I like where they have gone with the plot, and the Lurg seem like an interesting new race. Thought the voice, music and dialogue used for them was really well done. The encounters with some of the old races were interesting as well, and the new art used for some of them (especially the Syreen) was of great, quality stuff. Second demo coming at the end of November, full game should be released early next year. First Xenonauts, now this?! The world better not end in 2012 before I've played both of these games... http://code.google.com/p/project6014/
  11. Has anyone ever played this or heard of it? It was a Nintendo Gameboy Advance game that came out a few years ago (2005) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebelstar:_Tactical_Command Anyway I always liked it and played it quite alot. It was just the Combat missions, but it was stil pretty cool.
  12. http://kotaku.com/5874369/x+com-enemy-unknown-will-re+imagine-classic-x+com-first-screens-prove-it thoughts anyone?
  13. Allegedly. I've not had a chance to look yet, but I think it's legit. Might be of interest to you guys: http://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=23269&p=278015
  14. Last Thursday, Steam had a sale where it was reduced from $5.00 to $1.69 - did anyone else grab it? It's was my first time playing the game by the way, and it eventually led me here (I would have been in year 1 when it came out) Gotta say I am hugely psyched for this Xenonauts because of this! The alpha build seems so much like the original, but not to the point of complete emulation - and all the while improves on so many little things which make it so much more epic Can anyone recommend the other UFO games? I did some research and the reviews aren't too great, but I just want to hear your opinions.
  15. If anyone here owns UFO:ET then they may be interested in Greyfiend's latest hotfix for his mod (more like game overhaul). His latest release fixes an AI issue that previously made the game nearly unplayable. His previous updates had removed an exploit that was needed to fix the AI issue that allowed them to shoot and kill players at distances exceeding the effective range of the player's weaponry. Greyfiend's UFO: Extraterrestrials mod
  16. It was created by the makers of the original X-COM and is turn based. Unfortunately it's on the 3DS, but curious if anyone had given this game a try and what they thought about it
  17. Hello, in Ufo EU it was "easy" to choose the area in with the combat should be performed by shooting down the Ufo above one of the few terrain types. Which was your prefered area? I love the Woodland, Ice and Desert. But I hate the Mountains. Alith PS: I hope I didn't miss an area.
  18. Had a mad weekend playing this, but have to admit it didn't really live up to my personal expectations which leaves me a little sad. What did you guys think?
  19. I couldn't resist it, I bought Skyrim. Up to now I am finding the game pretty good, wow the place is massive, I don't think I have ever played a game this big. Is anyone else playing it, if so what are your thoughts on it so far?
  20. Might and magic Heroes VI http://uk.pc.ign.com/objects/083/083713.html I read thats good, anyone?
