  1. Had an idea for a new type of mission for the game... I lost an interceptor over land and thought what a cool mission it would be for me to have to go in and rescue the downed pilot from being captured by the aliens (the aliens landed and tried to capture him)... That would make for a neat scenario. Would it be hard to code an allied AI to follow your trooper once you got one of your guys close to him? The object would be to get the pilot back to the ship or destroy the aliens (or both). It could be a random rare event spawned by a aircraft shoot down over land.
  2. Hey guys I've always wondered why there was no turn limit when your troops attack a crash site. In this game, you know from the start what is the current damage on the UFO. So let's say that from minor damage to undamaged, the alien could restart their engine and leave you there ? What would it bring to the game ? - Force the player to move faster if he wants to reach the UFO in time. - Add some new strategy : like using smoke to cover your advance to the ufo and much more ! - Use a vehicles to cover your troops to move faster ? Let's say, for example, that you drop a light scout and it has minor damage. Maybe you could have 10/15 turns to reach the Ufo and disable the cpu or kill the crew inside ? If you win, you recover much more than if the UFO had severe damage. If you fail, the UFO lift up and flee to space. The goal here is just to add some fun to the mission we do hundreds of time and to use less airstrike What do you guys think about that ?
  3. So I know that this is probalby low on the priority list, but more mission types would be awesome. Ideas: Take and Hold: Xenonauts arrive to find that aliens have taken over an important building (power plant, pancake factory, etc). They have to clean out the location and hold it for five turns. No UFO in this mission, but the reward is better relations with the country in question. Rescue (VIP): A VIP of a country is in danger of being killed or abducted. Xenonauts are called in and rescue the VIP. Player has to secure the VIP and guard him for five turns before transport can arrive. No UFO in this mission, but the reward is better relations with the country in question. Rescue (pilot): A downed fighter jet recently shot down has been attacked by the aliens, intent on abducting the pilot. Player has to secure the pilot and get him back to the dropship before the aliens can abduct him. If the aliens secure the pilot for five turns, the player loses. UFO is present in this mission, and exits their craft to secure the pilot. Rescue (downed airliner): Aliens have shot down an airliner and are in the process of abducting the passangers and crew. The Xenonauts arrive to stop the abduction. Similar to a terror mission except there is a crashed airliner with civilians inside. Mission is to destroy all the invading aliens.
  4. I've thought of a scenario that seems quite fun to me. With the possibility of your carrier being shot down, wouldn't it be awesome if you could play a rescue mission instead of just getting the message of local forces recovering your troops? I would imagine the mission starting with a crashed carrier and mangled, with your troops in it and maybe a few scattered outside. RNG would determine how wounded/dead they are. Your first order of business would be trying to heal your troops and setting up a defense position. Aliens will have spawned on the far side of the map and are moving towards you. You would need to hold up against the aliens and then after a few turns a good number of friendly NPC soldiers would turn up to try and save you. There's no enemy UFO on the map and the only thing you can gain from the mission is the survival, and experience gain of the crew.
