  1. I managed to shoot down a light scout at the extreme range of my chinook, which was slightly outside of radar range. I got a message about loss of contact (the grammar in that message is not great) once my Condor moved away, but I chose "go to last known position". When my chinook neared the end of it's 12 hour flight (hope those rotors were balanced well - a small vibe can be really wearing over such a long time) it detected the crashsite again: The game detected it as a landed UFO that was travelling at 1500 km/hr.
  2. Just a small thing here, but the very first thing that people can research should definitely have a text in the research screen that tells you what you are going to research. People new to the game may not be used to the #### placeholder and think there is something wrong.
  3. When I researched alien invasion, and the MiG, they did not show the xenopedia picture, just a big blank area. The picture is still there in the xenopedia entry though.
  4. Hello, Since I'm relatively new to the forums, I wanted to first congratulate the dev. team for making a classic in a new and interesting way. I really like what I have seen so far, especially the in art department (I haven't tried the game yet, just watched some gameplay vids of v9.2). Having said that, I would like to throw off an idea, just in case someone finds it interesting. My main concern with xcom games was that no matter what's your point in the game, you can always find a smaller ufo, with "lesser" aliens on it. This can be especially annoying when you have advanced considerably in the game, you have a relatively powerful team armed to the teeth with uber-weapons, and you still see around those tiny little UFO's that you could just ignore, but that still annoy you like a mosquito. So here comes the idea...the ability to upgrade a territory's [A] Air Defenses: Automatically shoots at UFO's, without need of interecption. The higher a country's Air Defense, the more accurate and more damaging it is (thus when high enough it could destroy lesser UFO's automatically). These defenses don't need to shown anywhere, and could be like base defenses (Laser, Plasma, etc). Military Readiness. This represents training to local military & civilian population. It comes into play during tactical missions, so that the higher it is the greater % you have to encounter helpful soldiers during a mission that are chasing the aliens. Also, it would make civilians less prone to panick (better morale), and perhaps they could even have a % to have a gun or shotgun to use against an alien invading their house. Optionally you could have a morale boost figthing in territories with a good military readiness. ALSO When a smaller UFO is shot down automatically (by your interceptors or Air Defenses) and you don't go there to investigate, Military Readiness could indicate that there is a % that local troops go there and automatically investigate in your stead the crash site, and perhaps even send you some stuff as a gift (a part of the loot?). In graphic terms it won't affect things too much, except that it would need some new window (or tab) where you can develop/purchase these for a particular area (requiring time and money). PS: I noticed on the globe screen that these "areas" are already there, like USA+Canada, Russia, and all have a green contour when you put your mouse over them. I hope I was not too obscure in my explanations, and feel free to ask clarifications!
  5. The workshop screen days that a mig costs $250,000, but if I have exactly that much, and try to build one, then when I return to the geoscape I immediately get a message that my mig production is delayed for financial reasons. Then, when I make more money, it goes ahead. I am not sure how much money it took. I think I built a second base with a radar, store room, living quarters and hangar, which left me with exactly $250,000. That's if you want to try and recreate this bug. The two bases were in europe and north america, if that affects the cost. Edit: I probably built an additional hangar at my europe base too, to house the mig.
  6. Like the original X-COM, I think a full world Geoscape would look pretty darn good in the game. I like this one, but it's underdone, mostly just the fact that its flat as paper. Thanks for reading, - Wolfy
  7. Is anyone else slightly annoyed every time you get zoomed out after hitting the SPACE bar? I'm used to the game speed being reduced to the lowest setting, but I find the zoom-out feature to be counter-productive. Any thoughts? I know it's possible to re-map the keys to have SPACE only lower the game speed, but I was wondering if others find the zoom-out feature useful.
  8. If you send two interceptors, from two different bases, after the same UFO, then once the first one to reach it shoots it down, the other one triggers a "UFO x has escaped to space" message. In case you are wondering, I sent two interceptors as the ufo was equidistant from my two bases, so I did not know which way it would head.
  9. I loaded the autosave from before a mission and my chinook was just hovering over the crashsite, until it disappeared. I see this has already been reported. So anyway, I decided to load my manually saved game from a few game hours earlier. The game CTD. The saved game then worked fine from the main menu load screen.
  10. Hi, First time poster here. Game is great so far and cant wait to watch it evolve and then its eventual release. Great job! I only got through one or two summer months in the Alpha so far, so this could already be implemented , but here is an idea:As you can see from this image: As the seasons change, the light hitting the earth is not straight up and down but a a curve. I think it would be very interesting to watch the seasons change in the geoscape view. It would also affect how many night missions you would theoretically go on based on the latitude that your base is at in relation to the season.
  11. Is it possible to change UFO icon on geoscape? Red triangle with alien head isn't a good idea
  12. The lowdown: saving a game while aircraft is being refuelled and loading up the same save refills all tanks. A free energy scam if I ever saw one!
  13. Don't know whether its been raised before, but how about when you use the mouse wheel zoom in the geoscape it zooms in on where your cursor is (ala Google Maps) rather than zooming on the centre of the screen? When you are trying to zoom in on the arctic/antartic quickly it can be annoying to have to zoom and then scroll up/down several times. Some kind of zoom animation (box overlay, scale pop-up or similar) would also be cool, giving the sense of a satellite feed being zoomed in consistent with the border graphics suggesting the map is realtime data from Sputnik
  14. So, everytime I down a UFO, I then select my dropship and try to send it on the crash site but since my aircrafts are still on top of the crash site, I can't select the crash site icon until they move away. I think it's a minor annoyance than can be fixed with... well, with a bit of waiting but then again it's kind of counter intuitive. Shouldn't the Select Target Location for dropships ignore aircraft icons if they are on top of crash/terror sites?
  15. Ive read the whole suggestions forum and i cant seem to find anything on this, although to me it seemed reasonably obvious. Scenario: UFO is flying around on the edge of a base's radar range. You send a single F-17 to intercept. He tails for a bit, but soon bingos fuel and has to RTB. You send a second interceptor out but half way en route, the UFO disappears. First there is no way of telling whether the UFO has just flown out of range of radar or whether it has gone back to outer space. So you want to send the interceptor to its 'LAST KNOWN POSITION' to attempt to ping it visually. In XCOM, as soon as the UFO disappeared the 'UFO LOST' window would appear and options would appear: move to last known postion Patrol return to base ..or something to that effect. Either way selecting any of these options reduces the time scale to 5 secs - to prevent wasting precious seconds letting the offending UFO escape further away. Also, having the window appear, stops the interceptor from immediately returning to base - or essentially flying roughly in opposite direction to the last known position of the UFO - which is devastating to your ability to end up catching it again. Yes?
  16. Not really that important issues, but here goes: How many cities there will be on the map when the game comes out? I assume that there will be more than on the current build? Just seemed a bit weird that a place like Budapest is included, but not Berlin, Paris or Rome for example. Also, I might the be the only one who cares about this, but are the borders between various areas final? Some of them seem a bit strange, like the border between Finland and Soviet Union, which seems closer to the pre-WW2 border or the "Greater Finland" border that some irredentists dreamed of during the war. Might as well mention two typos I noticed in the game, "Dehli" and "Ukranian".
  17. like the title says, will there be adjustment to the world map? I love x-com and played it when a lot when I was growing up the Philippines and I even completed a terror mission at my home city Manila! It would be cool if this archipelago could make it into the game
