  1. Hi, I was wondering is this a bug or a feature, that if one loads a game in battlescape, one looses points for securing UFO? I was surprised to find it in beta...
  2. OK, this issue has been repeatedly reported as a bug, but I'm unclear as to what people mean. There are two possible issues: 1) On loading a saved ground combat game, not all the elements load correctly. The UFO walls and floors don't seem to load correctly, which is a known bug and this will lead to aliens being able to shoot through the walls of their UFO. This is definitely a bug and we'll fix it up. 2) People are also reporting aliens are able to shoot through solid objects, including UFO walls. I can't reproduce this, so I'm not sure if it's actually a bug or people are just misinterpreting the symptoms. A few key facts: Aliens have shared sight, just like the player does. If one alien can see your soldier, they can all shoot at him / her. UFO doors autoclose at the start of the player's turn, so if an alien opens the door to their craft to shoot out (or just runs through it), it will appear closed when the player sees it during their turn. These two facts could lead to a situation where people thought the aliens were shooting through walls as they were firing from beyond LOS, potentially "through" the UFO door that was actually open at the time - although this would only happen if the aliens were shooting out of the shroud at you. Is that a possibility or is there definite evidence that aliens are able to shoot through UFO walls or other solid objects in a ground combat mission that has not been loaded from a save game?
  3. Game crashes immediately upon transport arrival at second base during aircraft transfer. Time was accelerated. Game aborts crashsite missions intermittently when executing a save during the mission. The mission aborted screen appears with expected loss of all units. This only seems to occur when replacing a previously saved file. Game occasionally hangs during 'Hidden Movement' phases.
  4. Mission 1: It's night time and a number of the objects have that black outline that's been reported. It's a farm map with plenty of hedgerows. I fan my squad out. Unfortunately, all the black object seem to be permeable to plasma fire. Cue numerous injuries in turn three, followed by deaths in turn four. Reload. Mission 2: Still night time, but I'm a little more cautious in creeping around. But I have to move into the open spaces to get to the ship. That's when I discover that a fair number of the plasma bursts are coming straight through the ship. Cue numerous deaths. Reload. Mission 3: Again in darkness, my guys try to sit tight a bit more and find a better solution to suicidal assault through see through hedges. They creep around a bit more. Some random fire, gives me some injuries. That's when I discover that my medpack has been advanced, but the old ones I have have zero healing capability. Reload after the first soldier bleeds to death. Mission 4: Wait to day time, after I noticed that the object bug isn't so bad in the day missions. Unfortunately, it still seems to apply to the landing ship. Cue numerous deaths, even though I found a way round to the thing. Reload. Mission 5 The day time. Sneaking round the ship to avoid fire. Everyone in place. Smoke grenades in use. Give it an extra turn. Move forward. Aliens open up right through the smoke (and their own ship again) with multiple casualties. Bah! Reload. Mission 6 A different map this time in the day, moving from farm into middle east town. Walls not providing cover, and more shots through the ship result in casualties. I persevere, out of interest as it's a new mix of aliens. My third last guy is shot through the wall of the ship, my second is targeted crouched behind a wall, and shot anyway and the last is taken out by a teleporter right behind him. Reload. There are WWI generals who cringe at the loss of life in Xenonauts 8 guys doesn't feel like anywhere near enough for this one, but there would be a lot of casualties regardless. Once the buggies are gone, I'm going to get such a good feeling when I defeat these things.
  5. This isn't having a go at EU as such, but I was just stunned by the matter of fact opening line of this RPS interview with Jake Solomon. "RPS: XCOM launched rather buggy and there’re still a few hanging about. What happened there, and do you have a plan for how to iron all that stuff out? Jake Solomon: Yeah, it did. I agree – it’s just a shame." When I read it, it came across as a >shrug< "we needed to get it out. It's in a hell of a state, but hey, what can ya do?" Exactly why would I ever buy anything with his name attached before at least a year had passed and the bugs were ironed out? Yet another in a seemingly endless line of buggy games, that are released when they know full well there are issues. Oh yeah, the article is here.
  6. 1.) As soon as I begin to manufacture equipment item "####" within 12 hours I get CTD. Screenshot of equiptment "####" IMAGE: http://windpower4homes.net/images/CTD-Manufacturing-bug.bmp I know the item does not fully exist in the game yet, so I'm just posting an observation. 2.) Possible Research Bug - For some reason, this time I have not been able to research Alienium. I got alien alloys, and I already have stun grenades, currently researching Toxic Grenades and Heavy Alien Plasma Rifle. I've captured live aliens with stun grenades but still not available to research any live ones. Should I have come across Alienium by now? The only thing I did different this playthrough, I did not research Alien Invasion until I had already researched a few other beginning items. Cannot remember exactly which ones I did before Alien Invasion though. What is required to be able to research Alienium?
  7. Found a few bugs with pathing through an open door, and No Clipping for a tree & boxes. I have not tested this on all tree's and boxes, but it appears that if the wooden box is touching another Cover Prop it becomes passible. If the same wooden box is adjacent to a Large Prop, Xenonauts cannot walk inside it. I have also found the No Door Entry glitch with another building, but I have yet to get a screenshot. I have included 5 screenshots to verify bug and map locations. 1.) http://windpower4homes.net/images/Door-No-Entry.bmp 2.) http://windpower4homes.net/images/Walk-Thru-Box.bmp 3.) http://windpower4homes.net/images/Walk-Thru-Box-2.bmp 4.) http://windpower4homes.net/images/Walk-Thru-Box-3.bmp 5.) http://windpower4homes.net/images/Walk-Thru-Tree.bmp Pay no attention to those 30 round mag's It still only give's me 20.
  8. I sometimes in ground combat get these aliens, that act as "ghosts". They don't move, you can't hit them, etc. You can also move through them.
  9. Just a quick question that I can't seem to find an answer to. Has the pay wages before you receive your payment from the nations bug been fixed? Not sure if I should be posting this in the bug section or not so I just figured to post the question here and see if I can get an answer.
  10. I went to a landed UFO site just now, which went fairly well although in the urban kind of tile set some of the doors you opened you couldn't go through because there was a cabinet placed too close to the door. Anyway, after killing what I assume was the last alien, the mission ended, I figured I was victorious... only when I went back to the Geoscape it flashed me a message "UFO has escaped into space." Did I need to rush into the UFO to prevent it from leaving? Or is the game resolving completed landing sites as the UFO "escaping" since it is removed from the Geoscape? 16.1 and not sure its a bug, just a question.
  11. I just played the demo, and I don't understand the reaction fire mechanics. I've been religiously saving enough TUs to always have a snapshot (at least) available at end-of-turn, but enemies can dance around in my line of sight all day and I don't get a reaction shot. Meanwhile, the aliens get a snapshot literally every single time I move within their vision. What causes the reaction shot to activate? Unrelated, but also, is there any way to change what direction a soldier is facing without having to move? I *really* miss this feature from JA2 and Silent Storm right now.
  12. Hi. I just bought this game yesterday, and was super stoked for a remake of the old X-Com game. I read that the game is soon to enter beta, but from my experience it seems like it's quite some way to go. I tried playing for about 4 hours, and at most i got one battle through before crashing to desktop. First, i got the error where if you save while battling, there are invisible aliens which crash the game if they die. Then i got crashes at the start of a battle. Then suddenly a battle started without me even having dispatched a heli, and immediately crashed. As of now this game is not even playable to me. Are these crashes known bugs? Are they being worked on currently? I know that the game is not complete, but i was expecting to be able to PLAY at least.
  13. From a game developer to another: It seems a lot of people are having problems with files missing, game crashing or simply not showing units. The workaround thread is full of it. I suggest implementing a simple log system that logs to a text tile, and if the game cannot find an asset file, simply log the file missing to it so that we can stop shooting in the dark, randomly copy pasting files in different folders and hoping that crashing stops. It would be a great help to both you as developers and us as users.
  14. I have looked around in the forums for this, I found out that sometimes this means something isnt loading properly, or sometimes the descriptions just are not written up yet. I am running v 15, is this just something I should wait for or should I delete and reinstall?
  15. Hi all I'm new to the forums as well to xenonuats, I pre-ordered the game on thurs i played it for a while think i got to the 17. The next day i tried to play i got to combat did my turn. It crashed on hidden turn, you can hear the aliens move. So tried starting a new game, that didn't work as i soon got into my first combat same thing this time it either freezes or crashes. I posted in the bug thread said to verify files and i did, i even uninstalled got rid of all my saves and started over still no luck. I'm i doing something wrong. Please help me out i would really like to play again.
  16. The game loads but it doesn't progress but when i try the workaround by starting a new game before loading, it crash every single time.(only on certain save files) other game crashing bugs: -throwing a grenade or shooting a rocket at a planted c4 -engaging 3X very small fighter planes or ships with escort, it seems that the game might spawn 2 of the minigame screen and the game crashes after 1 of them ends.
  17. New to this site and only started playing the alpha...First off, thanks for making this game! Xcom is one of my all-time favs... Just in first couple of missions and can't figure out how to get the Hunter vehicle out of the landing ship (Chinook I think). I've been hunting the forum for an answer, but got impatient. Thanks!
  18. all i gotta say is i love the kickstarter demo and definitely will be purchasing the game sometime around release day but one thing that irked me almost immediately and does effect my enjoyment of the battlescape enviroment is how aliens when faced complete opposite ways can turn and reaction fire soldiers that they cannot see at all (until after they turn) to me this kills a lot of the strategy of the battlescape (which should be manuevering and flanking) i can understand if they are within their 90 degree view radius cause that makes sense, but when an enemy can rotate on spot and fire any direction its just plain unfair... obviously i'd want the same restriction for my own units. now i can't remember exactly how it worked in TFTD or enemy unknown but i am almost positive they will not reaction fire unless they see you. perhaps this was already mentioned to the devs, i dunno, i didn't bother to search the forums but if it hasn't been brought up I am at a loss for words as it only took me 1 battlescape play to notice this oversight. EDIT: its as i feared, no one has posted anything about this issue before which is very vexing to me this is something that is a must have, otherwise it becomes less strategic to me and hopefully everyone else (so they fix it!)
  19. I know I'm new to the forum all in all, but I can't help but notice the rapidly accumulating number of new threads on the bugs forum since v13/13.1 has been released. Now I understand that as far as development is planned, the next step is to add the remaining features in alpha v14 and beta v1 but I think that perhaps it would be wiser to start debugging these problems now before proceeding to v14 where the game will become an unbearable (although I think it reached that point already) train wreck of bugs. Just my 2 cents about the current situation post release of v13.
  20. Title - the thread title should be "[Vx (build number) - Ground Combat / Air Combat / Geoscape] Bug Name" ie, "[V7.5 - Ground Combat] Aliens have infinite health!" The version number is found in the top-right of the game launcher. Please note that if you are playing Xenonauts: Community Edition you should not be reporting bugs here - it is an unofficial project and the dev team cannot provide support for it. The same goes for modded games. Post - the post should contain details of what you were doing prior to the bug being caused, what the effect of the bug was, and reproduction steps if you've had a chance to find any. Screenshots and save game files can also be attached if you think it'll help us - save games in particular are useful if the game keeps crashing at a certain point (they are found under My Documents and can be attached under the Advanced Reply forum options). If your bug is technical rather than gameplay-related, please provide details of your PC too.
