  1. I feel there is a bit of inconsistency with the lizard men. In their description, lizard have bad eye sight and poor weapon control, thus their ai should have them be aggressive and maintain medium to short range, since they also don't know better, also indicated in their details. Yet when during crash and base missions they run and in terror missions they complete ignore the information by keeping their distance, have better aim and vision than all my majors, will almost always land a shot during barrages, all the while shooting from shadows and kiting my vision. I'm not sure if I am missing something or my researchers are morons. P.s. Are the urban terror missions always suppose to have terrible landing zones?
  2. So, the other day I got a terror mission. Fairly early on, still on ballistic weapons, but with jackal armor at least. Man, that was a tough battle. I didn't recall the Sebellians being so damn aggressive. They got all up in my personal space. When the chinook landed, I saw two aliens and not a lot of cover so I had everyone run into a nearby building (they could all pile inside in one turn), thinking I could peer out of the windows with relative safety to access things. This actually turned out to be the right move, I think, since cover was a bit bare in the streets. Then like, hordes of these guys just all charged in! I'm not used to seeing 5-7 aliens in view range at the same time! They surrounded the building and just hammered it to pieces until my boys were hiding behind dubious bits of wreckage and furniture. It was intense. I ended up with 3 dead and 2 crimson hearts, plus various scrapes and cuts. I went through so much ammo that I actually had to pick up alien guns off the streets to keep shooting -- normally I avoid alien heresy. More than a few times I was wondering if I could actually win the battle. I am playing on Veteran, btw. It was awesome, and I approve entirely.
  3. I was always keen to see that each of the alien races would have something meaningful to contribute to the R&D of the game. This is partly to eliminate any superfluous research, but also to show that humanity was using the alien biology and culture. Looking at the autopies/ vivisections in assets (and please correct anything that now appears automatically out with researches, so this is a bit off the cuff) there' seem to be a few that don't really add that much. SPOILER SPACE FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE RACE NAMES/ RESEARCH TOPICS Caesian Their autopsy leads into Alien Biology and hence stun weapons. Their vivisection simply gives a bonus against them. So both counter measures.Having the Caesian Psion lead into some human psionics, if only defensive measures. Sebillian As per Caesian, they lead into Stun Weapons, but their vivisection will also provide you with the updated Medikit, so this is a good example of what would be nice to see elsewhere. Andron In 19.4 this doesn't seem to go anywhere? I would have thought it would lead into flexible armours (Wolf) or into Alien Electronics (which I see it did back in v18) Harridan A clear link into the Buzzard suit is there. I'd have thought that this would have been a prerequisite, rather than just an option along with any of the drones. Some sort of sniper rifle accuracy bonus may be a nice addition. Wraith - feeds back into the alien biology you'll probably already have by the time you meet them. I suppose a teleportation unit is out of the question. Ummmmm... some sort of 1 turn camouflage? A stasis grenade that blocks teleportation in it's range? Praetor - Something psionics related, if only defensively would seem to be in order. Reaper - In the spirit of invulnerable aircraft, research here could create greyed out zombie soldiers of your favourite Xenonauts. They would have a HP allocation much like an assault shield. Failing that, some sort of Medikit enhancement. Drones - Drones seem to lead into the buzzard. I'd have thought one at least (Medium or Heavy) into a hovertank. An Xenonaut drone was always on the wish list though. So a few thoughts, although the aliens , for me, should always have the edge.
  4. Is he important? Because the stun gas doesn't affect him. If he is please don't spoil how to capture him.
  5. The sebillian was facing NW and was hit with a shotgun shell from long range. It was only a 1% chance to hit, but the screen froze just as the shot was hitting him. I tried to take a screenshot, but it did not take it. I have killed plenty of sebillians, but have never particularly paid attention to what way they were facing. He was standing at the northern corner of his light scout, and had not taken any actions. I had wounded him with a single hit from a burst fire shot from an assault rifle in the previous turn, so it is likely he was going to do the die animation. When I say it CTD, it had frozen with the shot on the sebillian. I could not Alt-Tab to get to paint to paste my print screen, and when I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to get to task manager I found the "Xenonauts has stopped working" dialogue box was there.
  6. Shot down a light scout, went to investigate. These two images illustrate nicely: I have seen a sebillian take: 5 shotgun shells 6 Assault rifle rounds 12 machine gun rounds (both man and vehicle carried) and a plasma pistol bolt (one of his buddies reaction fired and hit him) These are only the shots that hit and he cried out in pain from. This was all in one round. He did not die. I know their xenopedia entry says they are tough, but that tough? I loaded the autosave, there were more sebillians, and invulnerable again.
