1. This is a freak of a bug that will be near impossible to replicate: - Chinook arrives at a crash site, engage mission. - This occurs at the same time that interceptors auto-engage a UFO - The game tries to run both combats at the same time, rabidly eating computer resources - The air combat shows as the black background in the ground combat, and as the black background in the uppermost part of the geoscape - Even though you can see the air combat screen, and it is active, you cannot interact with it by mouse, only keyboard I got out of this jam by: - Finishing the ground combat - At this point, you cannot advance time, even at the base game speed - In the Geoscape, pressed [sPACE] and prayed that my F-17s didn't die - Game and computer resources returned to normal, and all Xenonauts lived to fight another day Sorry, but I didn't have the presence of mind to get a screen capture.
2. I'm sure you guys have noticed, but events can happen in some pretty wacky places at the moment. A fighter can strafe a shopping mall in the Sahara, or a public park on the northern edge of Greenland. Ideally, the map would have some (invisible) defined areas where certain events are not valid, to prevent this. Does anyone agree?
3. After reloading a saved game, which was taken sirectly after an ground mission, I had an CTD. Before the crash to troop transporters returned to the bases. The crash occured the first transporter reached the base (see screens and save game). I tried for several times, usually the crash was shortly after the second troop transporter arrvied, sometimes it took a minute. But the crash happened always.
4. Hi! I was playing the demo til now, having a great time, I'm really enjoying this game. Maybe this was covered on another topic, but I couldn't find anything related to my question. I noticed that events start to happen randomly, like "heavy radio disruption due to alien activity" or "oil rig attacked by aliens", stuff like that, but when I click on them, nothing happens. Those are "side mission" ? Or we are just supposed to send aircraft to patrol the area??
5. I wanted to send a manufactured MIG to a different base... so I sent a fighter from it back to the home front to open up a hangar slot before doing so. When both planes arrived (at/around same game time) the game crashed to desktop. It happened again under the same circumstances.
6. My first base (in Europe) has space for five vehicles, while the second base I built (in USSR) has only space for three. I notice there is a general increase to three. Maybe the start base has code that says you can fit two vehicles, and now the new garage says three as well?
7. This happens quite often, and I have not managed to figure out what causes it. I finally remembered to take a screenshot of it this time, which reminded me to post it up. I actually have two bases at this point, with neither showing. Sometimes it shows some bases, and not others.
8. I had a guy come back from the infirmary. The unassigned list says (0), but he is in the list. See? Just a small thing.
9. At the end of a month I get the "can't pay maintenance and wages" pop up, but then have a big wad of cash in the accounts directly after.
10. Since I recently started checking out Xenonauts, I am still running my starting base solely (NORAD... placed in the general vicinity of Cheyenne Mountain). I XCOM:EU, I usually started out with a base at Scapa Flow and then built the next two near NORAD and Vladivostok. I try to balance... I dunno, I guess a Nerd RP thing coupled with trying to cover as much area as possible, starting with the most lucrative of the nations. After I had 3 bases with tactical teams set up, I would start on the LP/OP bases to cover Southwest Asia (Usually based in Israel or Yemen, then South America (I set up an LP/OP near the Falklands, and sometime later a full on base in Brazil), LP/OP on Diego Garcia and then a full on base at Port Moresby. Was wondering how you all did your bases...
11. This is kind of nit picky, but check this one out: I am pretty sure there are no highways in central greenland. Perhaps the newsreel needs more info than just over water or over land?
12. When you load the game all the efforts you have made are forgotten by the funding areas. I played through pretty much the whole of july without loading, doing heaps of missions and shooting stuff down. Lost my SGT too, **sniff** Check it out, before loading: After loading: I saved on July 31, then loaded it after the report to get this example.
13. I was muckin around. veteran difficulty within the first month of the game. The game was not saved at any point. i made bases everywhere, essentially covering the entire map. each base had 2 hangars + 1 radar. The commands i did: Once completed and after a lil bit i transfered 2/3 starting f17's to a base on the soviet/chinese border, and one to north America. The final F17 remained in the base. What actually happened: F17-1 started off to Soviet base F17-2 started off to NA When F17-1 hit soviet base on the map, game crashed. No ufos in the detectable (or wern't shown during the freeze, possibly a cause of the error if simaltaneous events) A third f17 appeared upon my main base. to which i had not ordered Any ideas ? The only thing i have touched with the game files is Friendly ai and civilian ai both set to zero, in the missionstypes(w/e).xml (\assets\)
14. I would quite like to see a crew total on the intercept screen. This would let me know if I have forgotten to replace injured and killed personnel just before I sent a team out again. I reckon it could go in the armament column, as a fraction like 8/12. At a glance you would see "oh there should be more guys in there" rather than arriving at that terror site with three dudes due to terminal forgetfulness. I guess that could get harder later if the dropship gets armed, and it does not easily cover vehicles. Any other ideas?
15. I saved the game and exited during the middle of a ground battle. Upon reloading the game, the helicopter was above the crash site in question but the option to begin ground battle was not displayed. I ordered the chopper back to base, then immediately ordered it to intercept the crash site again. I entered battle and won. When the geoscape loaded again, it immediately sent me into another battle (no asking whether i wanted to start a battle, it automatically began. I won the second battle, and was once again launched into a third battle. A soldier who had been injured but not killed in the second battle had xx health points and TU and could not move or fire. Everyone else still had full ammo, and all their grenades as if I had not used them. At this point, I used task manager to close the game. I re-loaded the game and tried to replicate the bug, but when I reloaded the game, the crash site no longer existed. The helicopter returned to base as if it never happened, and I did not receive any loot from the battles performed before force-closing the game. I am not sure what caused this bug.
16. First off I'd like to start this post by saying a lot of my suggestions or request i don't expect to be in the initial launch of this game. These are more of cosmetic features/suggestions that could add more depth to the game in minuet ways. Also if weather has already been discussed, my apology. If you ask any soldier anywhere across the world he will tell you that weather and terrain dictate tempo of a battlefield. It dictates on how you can attack the enemy and the movement speed of your troops across the battlefield. Thus, I believe a regional/seasonal weather system would be fitting for Xenonauts. On the Global map seeing winter snow fade in and out as winter comes and passes would add a cosmetic appeal to the game. On a battle scale snow or rain could hinder troop movement and sand/snow/rain storms could lower visibility. The global game map is already separated into different regions of the world. Your half way there in my opinion, now all you have to do is add different factors to these regions of the world. Like if its between Month A to month B a sand/snow/rain storm is X likely to happen on this region of the world and Y likely to be represented on a battlefield. Obviously to represent snow/rain fall in the game would be a little difficult so i propose to just have snow fall on the ground or make the ground a little more reflective if you will to represent rainfall and maybe a 10% loss of visibility and slightly increased Ap to move while outdoors. I'm assuming one cosmetic issue that would show itself is how do you prevent this effect from taking place indoors and that in my opinion where things will be a little difficult, I don't know how the developers built the game engine and if buildings are represented differently on a map then the under layer of the ground. On to the next topic Terrain bonuses, I've seen the cover feature which i think is a great feature that's been added. I was just curious to know if there's going to be an elevation bonus. If a soldier is on the second floor or roof of a building will his visibility or accuracy be improved? Will terrain add any bonuses to the combat? If not i think this would also be another feature that would be nice to add. Again if this topic has already been posted my apologies. Like i stated before it would be more of a cosmetic addition to the game with slight feature improvements. Something similar to a NASA weather satellite, if you will [Example] Seeing weather phenomenal take place on the global map would be interesting as well. Please post your own thoughts on the topics and if you think they would add to the game play. Primarily the weather, it would be more of a visual representation of time regarding the seasonal effects on the global map.
17. I was wondering, will there be cow mutilation, crop circles and/or discovering (drunk) rednecks that are beeing anally probed inside larger UFOs in the game? Maybe you could have research projects that take hardly any ingame time at all that explains why the aliens in Xenonautsare doing theese things in the UFOpedia. Could be used to add a bit of humor or atmosphere into the game if wanted. I do realize this is polishing and not anything to prioritize deciding on. Just wanted to throw the idea out there =) PS. is the title bad? should i change it? DS.
18. The bug that initially sent me on this hunt was particularly tricky to nail down, due in part to a related issue I stumbled upon in the process. Here's the totality of what I found out, complete with a save state which should provide y'all with the opportunity to join me on a riveting journey to desktop! Fighter planes shouldn't be and aren't able to lift off if they're beaten beyond 50 percent of their durability. Likewise, they stay grounded until their fuel tanks are at least half-full. So far, so good. Stuff goes whack whenever a plane is concurrently somewhat slightly damaged (i.e. has more than 50% but less than 100% of its hit points intact) and low on kerosene. Launching a fighter that satisfies those conditions to random coordinates on the Geoscape appears to pose no threat to the game's stability: as soon as the bird of prey runs out of juice, a prompt window pops up, and it's back to base for maintenance. Attempting to engage a UFO with one of them lame ducks, however, is hazardous and results in an instant crash to desktop. Reproduction steps as follows: load up the save entitled "Inshreds3" and send the busted fighter plane on a mission to patrol remote airspace, Far East Asia will do fine. With any luck, the UFO circling above North Africa will still be on your radar when the MiG returns to base. As soon as it does, have it take on UFO-11. Presto, game over! For bonus points, monitor the MiG's fuel level as it's on its way back and approaching the base. I've no idea whether the behaviour is intended or not, but it may run as low as -5%! Oh, and here's the "related issue" part: taking a detour to Indochina is a required step to duplicating the bug, because, for reasons unknown, all planes' fuel levels are restored to their maximum values upon loading. Addendum: It's worth pointing out that all of the above applies to F-17s as well as MiGs. Also, under certain conditions, which I've been unable to reproduce, the plane became uncontrollable en route to its destination, that is, all action buttons on its status window except for Cancel were greyed out.
