  1. A price I'd be happy to pay to be ablke to do that kind of stuff Not that I play much Xenonauts anymore, but still
  2. It's fiexed in community edition if you're running that.
  3. My colonels kept leveling up the rest of the game just fine.
  4. You just hit the cap for where you can get strength without overloading. Overload them a bit and they'll continue leveling for a while, eventually you'll need to overload them a bit more to go even further though. Max is still 100, and you don't stop gaining stats just because you hit a certain rank. Keep in mind you can't level strength for soldiers in predator armor though.
  5. Except if you're going to abort the mission, then they need to be in the dropship to have a chance for survival I believe. Doesn't happen that often, but since the post bringing it up mentioned aborting, it's probably relevant in this case.
  6. Well, Inga is mainly a nordic name, where the word "inga" means "no/none" so...
  7. If doing so means better gameplay, sure you can. Not that this is such a case.
  8. You pretty much got it. Hence why reflexes and bravery are the stats I look for when recruiting soldiers, with some consideration for hp. The rest will sort itself in time.
  9. What's your point? I don't have anything that I feel I need to change. And again, that would require there to be an issue that I feel strongly about and want to change. That isn't the case.
  10. If the promise was going to benefit you in some way, the fact that breaking the promise robs you of that positive effect would qualify yes.
  11. Indeed. Being able to feel it or at least see some effect of it is, in my opinion, the definition of harm. Something that doesn't affect you and that you most likely won't even find out about can't harm you.
  12. If you write a book and lock it up in your drawer, you're doing so because you don't want anyone to read the content because it's private, so yes, making a copy (or reading it at all) would be an invasion of privacy. However, once you publish that book, the entire world can read it, so the content is no longer something private. In the vast majority of cases, if someone pirates the game, you will never find out about it, and as you mentioned, not suffer financially from it either, so you don't suffer from it in any way. Piracy becomes more akin to checking the book out of the library and copying it for later use. That is NOT what I'm saying though. No one is entitled to a copy without paying - it's just that if you can get one without anyone suffering from it, then why not? If anyone could convince me that it actually hurts someone in any way, I'd stop. LordJulian, piracy already has existed for decades, so that would be right now. Either way, I can only control myself - even if I were to stop, no one else would. Yes, I am aware of "if everyone thinks that way..." arguments, but again, no one will stop thinking that way just because I do.
  13. The only real difference is between burst and single shot, and that difference should be fairly obvious. Otherwise it just allows you to spend more TUs for a more accurate shot.
  14. Indeed, it's not stealing, but neither is assault or other violence related crimes, which are obviously not OK. Invasion of privacy is an another example. The difference is that all these examples have a victim, someone suffers from it. As long as you're not being a douchebag about it, piracy doesn't. I'm never gonna argue that it shouldn't be illegal, but as long as you weren't gonna buy it anyway it's a victimless crime. The fact that it's not stealing does not automatically means it's OK, it just means that you can't classify it as stealing and thus automatically determine that it's wrong.
  15. Hence why my stance on piracy being wrong is "depends on the individual doing it".
  16. That is the key difference between douchebag pirates and the rest. For many, the answer to that question is actually yes. Just 3 quick examples from my steam library is dragon age origins, GTA: San Andreas and kotor. I played pirated version of all of them due to not being able to buy them at the time. As soon as I did though, I bought them on steam, and have never played them since.
  17. Oh, so copying something automatically deletes the original? That's some fancy new tech there, but must be the case since the only reason theft is a bad thing is that it takes the item in question away from the owner. The whole concept of "digital theft" is honestly quite ludicrous.
  18. Everyone can use the community edition, and if you're skilled and dedicated enough, I'm sure you can talk to GH/the CE team and apply to get into that team yourself
  19. It allows you to do anything you want, but gives you a budget, both in regards to resources and funding. Those 2 things are supposed to keep your expansion in check. Nowhere nearly as quickly as it's supposed to. And the normal 3 base setup covers about 90% of the earths landmass. The rest still gets protection since the UFOs move around and will most likely come into your radar range anyway. You're supposed to TRY to defend the world - it's not supposed to be easy, and you're not necessarily supposed to succeed in covering everything instantly. Sure you do. If you don't, you're doing something wrong, either investing in too many scientists where the resources could be better spent elsewhere, such as fixing the second possible mistake: investing too little in engineering, or you haven't built up enough radar coverage/air force to down enough UFOs for the resources. I've literally never been short on alenium ever, and only short on alloys after my bases are almost fully equipped with marauders, and I get my squad fully equipped before the next tier comes around. I focus on air superiority though, the very first thing I do is build a second base. You can play it any way you want. You can either go for 3 bases and 1-2 squads and make them top notch, which is optimal, or you can go for tons of bases and squads, but then you won't be able to equip them very well. Alternatively, you can scale back on expanding your coverage and invest more in research and basically skip some tiers like you were doing in your normal game. You can play it any way you want, but the different approaches has different drawbacks - you're not supposed to be able to get it all. You're the one looking for ways to make the game shorter. You want tons of starting cash and much more resources so you can fully equip a force covering the entire globe right of the bat. Those limits are there in order to prevent that. If you want a full coverage with top notch troops, you can achieve that in the very late game when you start having more cash than you know what to do with. Nice ad hominem there btw, implying anyone who disagrees with you is handicapped. You're doing a great job of not sounding angry!
  20. The community edition modders has access to the source code, as mentioned. I don't know their background, but working with that instead of just the text files I'd assume they're pretty good coders. That means they have access to everything GH itself does and are able to do anything GH could, assuming they have the skills to do so.
  21. This is an absolutely terrible idea, and you've misunderstood that saying completely - divide and conquer refers to separating the enemy forces from each other so you can more easily defeat them a few at a time, or in other words what you are intentionally doing to yourself. You may be able to get away with it on lower difficulties, but it's still a bad idea. The more troops you have in a group close to and supporting each other, the more firepower you have available to instantly kill any aliens you spot, and (especially relevant on the low difficulty you must be playing on since it's much more likely to kill aliens) the more you have for reaction fire. The rest is either very obvious or personal preference that doesn't really matter that much (like the loadouts). Snipers being good at long range etc is something that's gonna be completely obvious even to new players - the hard part is how to move them around on the field.
  22. Huh? I'm pretty sure I've had bases pop up long before carriers...
  23. Well, yeah, of course resources are gonna be scarce when you're trying to arm 2-4 times more men than you normally would... "Just 2 squads" is normally considered too many in a normal game. Other than that, I agree with the above 2 posters...
