  1. Definitely. Great answer with ufo and bases! Thank you. I propose learning here too. 1) Smoking as an old fart 2) Preventive grenades. Apply real tactics.. no brave spec-ops man is dumb to enter building without a 'nade. Refer to some 'cleaning' videos (USA in Afgan maybe) in case of doubt.
  2. I don't like the idea to change game in favor of inexperienced players further. Kinda cool to start learn tactic from such losses. A corner should be approached a smarter way - from the distance, face it. If there's someone (something) to the left from the entrance - then start learning to check out the windows first. Great thread though!
  3. Great post! I find it cool to have 3 shots instead of 2. It is hardly circumstantial
  4. Never assaulted Alien Fortress with over 20 elites? By the time I exit the teleport room, some of the ammo and most useful grenades are gone, taking away 10-15 enemies Even overloading is not enough in some cases, so i end up using alien weapon during the tough times. Maybe RMB is not a good choice, i agree. But manually item-by-item unload is simply painful.
  5. Gauddlike, The game just does it already on BASE. If item is rmb-clicked in backpack - the item is removed. If clicked in weapon invenotry - item added to soldier. In GC - click on item on the ground - added to soldier ("picked"), clicked on backpack or belt - dropped to ground. Is that you asked or something i didnt get?
  6. Hi! I really enjoy right mouse button to FAST fill/unload backpack with grenades/ammo when customizing soldier's loadout ON BASE. During the Ground Combat my first action is to unload extra weight from backpack to ground to reduce excessive weight and return to normal TU's. It is so slow and painful each GC, to move items with mouse and deliberately drop it to ground. Very annoying. Any possibilities to implement RMB to fast drop/pick items to/from the ground to any free space in backpack or belt? Does anybody have this experience too?
  7. All comments are pretty clear with the way the bearer thinks. Just to sum it up: I would pay 30$ next autumn to play Xeno 2 (not 2.0, though absolutely the same scenario) with a new engine with rethought everything. No DLC, nothing irritating, pure fun, refreshed game. Who is going to do the same? You bet.
  8. That all is clearly stated in the diary. As to XCOM you wanted the same thing happen as other people who eventually helped you. Now when you say "i'd make a game" it reads as you will pay and nobody would join for free. No offense, let's talk clear&sheer. If you get bored with Xeno, you get bored with existing Xeno, not the one you'd wish come to life in a couple of years. I'm sure there could be found ways to manage the project itself, maybe promote to a bigger studio, sell or franchise under your term. I mean a professional in gamedev can't just dump something developed and let people upset with no new stuff. A pro thinks and finds the question "why", not "how". There's another thing. As you are getting experience, ppl are watching closely. Would you end up working with someone for big if you know the guy is predetermined to get bored? No advice, just why ruin a starting career. You made it the perfect time and place and community and talents. No other project comes to my mind with this scenario. Enterpreneurs get right when they combine things to feed the existing market. And get it wrong when create illusions out of nothing, feeding nonexistent markets with goods made solely to feed an ego of an enterpreneur. Sorry, I can talk endlessly on various topics as we talk about typical people's behaviour&psychology, not particular things or games at all.
  9. Intentions of my post is only to draw attention to the mere fact we spend money updating things pretty often. Every year a new mobile (cheap), every 2 years an updated tablet, every something - shoes/clothes. Why would anyone supposedly tired of something drop it? Tell it to GAMELOFT with Asphalt, and it's mostly free. I wouldn't mention such a great gamedev firm if only Chris didn't plan to stay in gamedev. If someone small with success isn't working harder and constantly outsmart those big sharks - he'll end in unknown unplayed games eaten and robbed. Talents stayed with ufo franchise and worked for this guy bc they loved the project. Everybody talented will just go and work for money with bigger players. Chris can sustain and hold talents only if he stays with the ufo theme at least for now. Haven't you read his recent diary? PS Community belongs to UFO->Xeno. Soo, his majesty is tired and wants to drop profitable game, developed community, talents joined to be part of ufo:recreation? Then he goes for 2 unknown games, called "big and small", no community, nothing, pure money to flush. C'mon, it doesn't make sense.
  10. Why not make alien guns fit only with special researched glove/adapter? Those who have it in backpack can use it to shoot from alien plasmas.
  11. Was fun for me to deploy 2 snipers, 3 singularuty guns (to have fun with reapers), 7 MAG heavy.
  12. Agreed. Chris made some money and experience with this project (golden egg), and now just plans to drop it. What a noncence, from my experience. A have played uncounted times the very first UFO, and Xeno already played twice, normal and insane (with disabled psionics). DON'T they even guess i'll be playing Xeno again in 6-9 months? I guess ppl make money every month, so why play same sh.. when i can spend same money in 9-12 months to play NEW Xeno engine, animations, modified tech tree, first-person-aiming with beautiful dribbling cross on a stunning artwork? I agree with Chris, he must redraw aliens, to be more unhuman. Nice ork can be done with credibility+experience he has earned. DAMN!
  13. Actually, that's pretty straightforward - i put priorities on essential technology, putting off some unnecessary options like laser/plasma. And researched all the rest only after my goals on Insane were achieved. So, I eventually found that my base defence turrets went from mags to plasma, which i don't think is a good decision. Who knows, Aircraft people still stick to top-notch weaponry, though Base Servicemen maybe decided to utilise old and bulky plasma missiles , putting base under threat (though it's not that important, as full air superiority is achieved by now).
  14. Hi, I used to throw stun grenades at locals in order to make them sleep, awaiting peace in peaceful dreaming. Aliens don't react much on lying people, so no problems with them. Also Hidden Movement time is saved a bit. the bug: when i stay over sleeping locals (in the same tile) they are shown as dead on the ground of inventory screen of the soldier. I can take thier weapon in case of local enforcement guy, and resell it afterwards, but i'd prefer a picture of a stunned man, rather than it's inwards .
