  1. Hey Ilunak - with this workaround everything seems to work ok now.
  2. This occurred again on a fresh install after deleting every remaining xenonauts file. [X:CE 0.32 RC2] There is no mod that could possibly be missing (if this is what you are referring to), as I'm using no other mods but the ones included in XCE, and I've tried deactivating all mods but the required XCE / balance / settings mods. Simply load the save, and have any soldier shoot another soldier, or have any soldier be killed by an alien. (Screenshot not needed as all it would show is a dead soldier and not really give you any needed info, as you cannot tell the game is frozen from a screenshot.)   4. Hey Chris the artbook is a work of true beauty! I love it! Page 42 on the breaching mechs- "objects had to justify their inclusion by filling a distinct niche or be cut it out". The word "it" should be removed, and it'll be perfect.
  5. I think that Goldhawk was going for replay ability here, and not a focus of resources on a one-off story that would annoy subsequent playthroughs for some. Funny thing is, this was complained about in the Firaxis version - people just couldn't deal with slugging through story content repeatedly. The quintessence of XCOM is being able to enjoy it over and over without there being a heavy linear story driven narrative. As a few have said already, the player creates the situation as they go along.
  6. Sorry I bothered you >.< I was able to figure some of these out with a few hours of getting familiar with the luas. Only two I cant figure out are - how to change the objective text color, and how to change the "grid effect" overlay on the geoscape. So that should reduce the annoyance of my questions with all those pics, sorry again =/ I suffer from severe OCD so I apologize If I was being difficult. My brain just refuses to allow me to enjoy something until everything is in perfect order - its a nightmare, but I cant change the way things are, so I just try to deal. Edit - The last thing I wanna be is just another ball busting guy on the forums, hopefully If I can manage to finish my crash site mod, I'll be seen as a contributor like you guys =)
  7. Thanks so much! Also forgot to ask about these >.< Sorry for being such a bother man! Not sure yet, but If I decide to, how would I remove the black frame behind the "Alien Turn" words and Icon? And which file to change the "Objective" at the bottom of the screen, to match the other white geoscape text? Last things I promise! How would I go about darkening the unactive text in the research and workshop tabs to see these a little better? (not that it matters much but I'd like to learn) For highlighted personnel, how would I go about changing the "highlight" itself to better see what my cursor is on? I'd like to change it to the black frame with white text when highlighted ala chosen research projects, and keep the current look when not highlighted. (see attachment for pic) Again, sorry to be a nuisance, I know you're trying to enjoy your summer!
  8. Hey Skitso the mod is an absolute beauty! Quick questions for you or anyone else who may know: (posted pics since I didnt really know how to ask) What files do I need to modify to change the color of these bars, and the bar backgrounds? I'd like to change the soldier stat bar to resemble the base management progress bar for consistency. Is this just a personal bug, or is this something I can remedy? The "Total Sales" is overlapping with the value. Thank you again!
  9. Hey Solver, I experienced the dropship not being able to land in base again today >.< Doesn't happen as often, but had to restart. Edit - Happened again a few times, not sure why =/ Almost seems like the save is getting corrupted. I wouldnt know though. But I was able to reproduce this by starting a new game, downing a ufo, heading the dropship to it, and abandoning. Then I save, reload, and the dropship can not return to base.
  10. Hey guys thanks for the input! Yeah I made the mistake of merging the layers yesterday as I had been up for about 28 hours at that point totally excited about doing some work. (Have to get back into a true photoshop mindset) I plan to redo that image, with the proper extra layer and not mirrored, and also taking kabills advice about the doorway. I was scared to death that you guys wouldn't like it since the thread stayed a bit quiet until now. Glad to see everythings cool =) I was kind of going for a "tipped" feel to the hull, that would appear like the ship really dug into the ground at the front of the ship, with the wings kind of just hanging behind. Think that worked out well.
  11. Still needs alot of work and maybe some trim, but heres a basic layout. Questions: Can xenonauts and aliens easily move over the rocks by the door area, since this would be a separate aesthetic layer or do I need to cut that down. Second, how far beyond the ship should I be aiming as I add this debris? As I'm not a mapper, I'm not too sure how much room I have to work with, and how best to mesh this with the submaps. I plan to do more detail work, but before I continue (and probably redo this from scratch) I wanted to show that I'm at least trying =) Also is there a way to move this thread to the modding discussion, or should I just recreate a thread there? Didn't want to make unwanted clutter, but I do want the other major modders to input their thoughts. Edit 2: Now that I think about it , I suppose this mod would be obsolete if you guys ever do the modular, more circular UFO's, so what are your thoughts on that? Personally I really do dig the alien aircraft that GH created, so I'm ready to go full steam on this mod if its a good idea. I'll get better as I go along so thats a plus!
  12. Okay been re-familiarizing myself with photoshop and the new elements for the last few hours (its been over 10 years). I believe this is possible for me. What would help me tremendously is if there is anyway I can get the full size old crash .png's for which ever craft and terrain Goldhawk has done. Not only would this be a reference, but I may be able to pull the terrain damage and use modified "pieces" as the extra layer. This would speed up the process, otherwise I have to learn how to recreate the "painted over" look, which might not be that hard if anyone with experience can give me some tips. So far I've only seen old screens of the light scout crash in concrete and grass/dirt, but at a small resolution. The higher res of those would be a great boon and a good starting place. This is just a thought I had basically, but If not I do plan to create new art. Edit: Whoops, I think someone mentioned they were painted into the actual maps back then or am I mistaken? If they are, is it possible to get the old crash map assets in some capacity?
  13. Actually, perhaps this is something I could work on? I know you guys have a million and one things to do with X:CE and your own projects, and I'm pretty serious about this. I dont know if its more difficult to keep pointing me in the right direction when I ask a question as I go along, but maybe Ilunak or Kabill (in your spare time) can get me started and give me tasks of things I can do. I've familiarized myself with Xenonauts' files, so maybe this is possible? I figure it cant hurt to ask, even If Im out of my league here. This should probably be in the modding section now that I think about it, sorry =/

  15. Btw, was curious if its normal for Ironman to lag considerably in the GC upon soldier deaths, rockets, and other events. I'm assuming it is since its saving constantly, but was wondering if maybe this is a personal issue. I've been playing self imposed Ironman with just one autosave to get the better performance. Also the main menu background flickers for me upon selecting a clipboard option. I've had these issues since 1.0, and seeing as how they were not a big deal I didn't mention it earlier.
