  1. So you only gain an accuracy progress point if you shoot beyond x1.5 the weapon range? I don't think that makes sense. First, it is counter-intuitive. You never would have guess this without reading the insides of the program. Second, if you train yourself with a firearm, and you go to a shooting range for a challenge, do you practice by shooting way beyond the sensible range of the weapon, or rather you set your targets at the maximum range? I think the latter.

    The X-FILES

X-files is my all-time favourite show. They should have stopped when Duchovny left, though...
  3. I'm okay with keeping the shields but don't tell me a riot shield will deflect plasma shots... That would be a huge immersion breaker.
  4. I am happy to see the Kickstarter project is live. And it hit exactly $21,000 just a second ago!
  5. Hi, I hope this topic will not be burned and buried, I just wanted to say how excited I am to see a tremendous amount of traffic recently on the boards. I am not a frequent poster myself, rather a lurker, but I check new posts several times per day. In the past few weeks I noticed that there are 50-100 new posts every time I log in (that is 3-4 times per day). The total post count is over 18,000. And this is the current forum user activity just past midnight in CET: "There are currently 260 users online. 50 members and 210 guests" WOW! I am getting a good vibe - and I just noticed that v10 is out! Keep it up, Goldhawk team!
  6. People who appreciate the luxury of a hardcopy book, and are willing to donate extra for it, are at the same time users of tablets, e-readers, laptops, etc. It is normal and expected today that electronic versions are provided along with the higher priced hardcopy. If you don't believe me, you will see the questions on the Kickstarter page.
  7. I have re-read the first post with the updated tiers. Questions, mostly about the way the pdf and printed artbooks are split, which is I think is quite confusing and does not make sense: At $60 you get the softcover but not the pdf? At $75 you can get the pdf but not the softcover artbook? At $100 you can choose the hardcover but not together with the pdf? At $125 and above you get the hardcover but not the pdf? What happened is, I believe, that the tiers are scaling slowly up in cost, but in reality the tiers got confusing as items from lower tier get swapped out, and new items come in. I suggest to consider having a simpler structure, where as you go up a tier, you get everything below, plus something more. I also think that this would make your life much easier with volume assumptions/plans, and the organization and logistics after the project ends.
  8. The Kickstarter project is also an effective marketing campaign in itself. While taking a loan from a bank probably does not get any UFO fans excited too much.
  9. One more thing: I think it is important to emphasize in the project description that the game will come out, it has a budget, and Kickstarter is used to add more features, art, etc. The funding goal should be set accordingly: what are the ideas you had to scrap due to limited budget and time? As for the value, I recommend to set a modest 50 or 100k ("modest" when compared to the successes of Double Fine, Wasteland, etc), but still not as low to give a "garage team" feeling. Also important to say clearly that the game is planned for release this year. So, the additional funds will be used quickly and will not delay the release (that is the plan, right?).
  10. I think Chris and the team are happy to read such comments and they do not go wasted. And yes, a Kickstarter project is on the way!
