  1. Nice assault, commander. FWIW, I've encountered multiple harridans on the sides of carriers before, too. I don't know if the position is bugged, or there's some kind of ledge tucked into the ship on the third floor or what, but they're extremely difficult to target and have killed more than one of my guys before. I'd advise caution every time you approach the left side of a carrier
  2. I think this movie is broken. 12 days since last episode
  3. Wow, dude, that's a bit harsh. I've watched guys on this forum spend one hell of a lot more than "one hour and without giving much effort" to mapping attempts that wound up in frustration. And there are games out there with great, yes, "easy-to-use" map editors that produce solid results. I'm done with this conversation, and done being condescended to.
  4. I'll give it a shot, yes. The problem is that I nothing about how to go about doing something like that, and I might cause you more aggravation than it's worth with a hundred stupid questions. But if you're willing, then yes. Edit: cancel that
  5. This may be going off on a tangent, but that is so true and such a shame. I'd love to make maps, and have free time available, but despite the fact that Kabill and Skitso will both modestly tell you that's it's not that hard, I've watched too many other people struggle with the arcane and byzantine process and give up in the end. It's the same thing that has ultimately killed the replayability of many other titles: the lack of an easy-to-use map editor. I really, really hope that the next big game GH is working on gives the community much greater mapping potential.
  6. Replaying things in my head, you're right, I do believe the map oddities I've encountered are just on the farm maps.
  7. According to the wiki, Chrono Cross wasn't released until 2000, which is prob part of the reason it's not available. Other part is because it's on the Playstation Network, so it's likely viewed as a draw to the PS
  8. I'd vote for that idea. Maybe something like if a Xenonaut is "technically dead" (zero to -19 HP) he can be stabilized (guaranteed recovery) IF another soldier can get to him immediately (that same turn) and then spend at least another full turn performing that stabilization (in what is likely a risky and exposed position).
  9. I'll try to answer that. The random maps, of far greater quantity, offer tremendous variety. However, once you play them for a while, you'll notice that they often have overlapping and placement issues, and are not up to the standards of Skitso's individually crafted maps. At bottom, it's a choice between quality vs. quantity. Of course, ideally, you can use both, but the sheer amount of random maps can somewhat overwhelm your chances of seeing Skitso's. Hope that's a fair assessment.
  10. Hey, what's up with that? First you take away my dual shields, and now teleport blocking; if you remove door spamming too, I won't have any cheesy "strategies" left!!! That'll be sweet, as I've been intermittently struggling with those crashes for a while now Will the equipment from those corpses be recoverable? I didn't know this was possible. I thought healing unconscious soldiers had been removed as a "feature" a long time ago. So are you saying that if I have a trooper that's knocked down to zero to -19 HP, I can heal them to positive HP and thus guarantee their survival?
  11. Sorry, you're right. If you aim at one part of certain props/walls/air ducts, you get a red X and cannot shoot (because, as you said, the cursor snaps to the tile behind it). Adjust your aim ever so slightly and now you can target the prop. My bad, I was in the middle of a big firefight, and getting frustrated at trying to blow away a lot of intervening cover.
  12. Manual targeting won't work if shooting at an object with a 100% blocking chance. Spotted an alien hiding behind a prop. Tried to target him with my machine gunner to either kill him or blow away his cover, but could not take the shot at either tile. However, if targeting anything else within view with less than 100% blocking chance, no issues.
  13. Saw a landed UFO way off in Australia. Out of range of my interceptors, so sent my Charlie. By the time I got there, as I assumed, the UFO had lifted off and escaped. Charlie patrolled, detected a base, game then crashed when I tried to assault it. However, if I flew my dropship all the way back home, refuelled, and then returned to the base again, the mission loaded. Tried this process several times, and each time I tried to immediately attack the base, CTD, each time I went home and returned, no problem. Don't know if this will help you track the bug, but thought I'd report it.
  14. I'd highly recommend it. Very similar gameplay to XCom and Xenonauts. When it was first released it was a mess, but then the modders took over and improved it so radically the devs took all those changes and re-released the game as the "Gold" version. They even went so far as to hire the main modder (B-man) after witnessing his skills. Since you enjoy other alien-invasion turn-based games, I can just about guarantee you'll like it.
  15. - Hope that Marauder is fixed by the next wave! - Except that one last-minute mistake, another pretty solid GC - For my vote, I'd like to see you stream either one of the games you mentioned next. I played Open XCom with a number of mods a couple of months ago, and it was quite the challenge. And I haven't tried the Long War mod yet, so that would be interesting to see too. Incidentally, have you ever played UFO:ET Gold?
  16. Yes. I first encountered (and reported) this when I was using CE, and thereby switched back to the official version. Everything was fine, figured it was CE, until my most recent base assault when it happened again. I've been trying to find a common thread to the crash, but it almost seems to be random. My only guess it that saving a game when en route to the base might have something to do with it
  17. That's interesting. I was considering buying that, since it got rave reviews across the board on Metacritic, but after watching a number of LPs I wasn't that impressed. Seems like the devs focused on the emotional side of war (which deserves major kudos for uniqueness) but the gameplay itself is less than stellar. Guess I'll wait for a sale (just like I am for Wastelands 2 and Shadowrun)
  18. Pretty solid mission, sir. With your twin predators you're finally starting to get some payback I assume you already know this, but your audio commentary cut out during the final ~10 minutes. I would've liked to hear the delicate language you used when your two Foxtrots got shot down. Hopefully you finish that Marauder before the next wave spawns. Looks like you're going to have an alien base in South America to deal with too.
  19. Just finished assaulting a base, and nobody received the +1 Bravery for the Citation of Valor On a happier note, also built a Buzzard suit, and for the first time ever a shield trooper in flying armor actually rotated in flight and landed correctly
  20. zzzzzzzzzz.........snore..........zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......snore.......
  21. http://game-oldies.com/ Scroll to bottom of page to pick from the different systems
  22. Lol no it's not fake. And yes, Spyro and Crash are both there
  23. A few more missions, and the Order of Merit is only granting +1 Bravery (should be +2).

    Old Skool

Been having a good time lately at a site I stumbled across, game-oldies.com. It features all of the original Playstation 1, Sega Master System (& Genesis) and Nintendo titles, with built-in emulators and cloud saves. No fumbling around for arcane files to make the software work on modern computers; just click on a title and play. Re-living my misspent and long-ago youth with 688 Attack Sub, Shining Force, Desert Strike, Phantasy Star, and all the other classics Since I'm always behind the curve I'm prob the last person on the planet to discover this site, but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case any other 30+ fossils might enjoy a trip down memory lane too
