  1. I beg to differ. They're incredibly useful against androns, more so than rockets IMO.
  2. Since when do Reapers appear on UFO crash site missions? I thought they were Terror only.
  3. Reminds me of that mission in Farcry: Blood Dragon where all enemies' grenades are voice activated. By informing the troops of this alteration, the base's AI inadvertently triggers the explosives. Made me laugh, that one. Skip to 2:10
  4. That's possible, but not super probable with two radars. Are supply missions random then? Do they spawn with each ufo wave? I always thought they were regular occurrences, separate from the wave spawned missions. Maybe I'm remembering the OG.
  5. Also, apparently if they damage but not destroy the ufo, you face fewer enemies on the ground. I think that's an excellent feature.
  6. A alien base could never have been the problem, being as they receive regular supply missions, correct?
  7. I have the "Main menu background screen doesn't display correctly if you have a slow hard drive." bug. I wasn't aware that hard drives were classified according to speed. It's not a huge problem, being as it likely affects only a small percentage of players. Is it something you can patch, or is it completely a hardware issue? I can learn to live with it. Probably going to upgrade soon anyway.
  8. Out of interest, how 'rare' are these rare cards? I've been playing games through Steam for a while now, and have yet to get anything better than the regular cards.
  9. That's true. Perhaps that part should be removed from the xenopedia entry. Harridans are deadly enough, and coding in a new AI that allows them to use their flight capabilities would be very difficult, correct?
  10. You're completely right, Victor. The politics, the air battles, the entire strategic layer to the game is amazing. However, the tactical side, the ground combat, is bloody awful. I normally quit my apocalypse campaigns after the third or fourth ground mission. Until then however, I am completely immersed. But I can't play just half a game.
  11. Because it would be difficult to balance? Why not let every alien ship target transports? Can you imagine having to have enough fighters to escort your chinooks, as well as clearing the skies? What about long distance terror missions, which are out of range of your interceptors? Also, Malthus, that would be deemed dereliction of duty by any human military, more likely resulting in a demotion or even a dishonourable discharge. One does not simply abandon a very important recon mission for the sake of shooting down a eight man transport. How do they know it's a military transport, anyhow? We never find out the full extent of alien intle on human forces. Justifiably, a simple civilian passenger jet may seem like a military airplane to them. Finally, the reason I put human in bold in the previous paragraph. This is not a human military. Stop applying human traits to the aliens. Most of them are mindless drones anyway, and probably don't have the slightest desire to obtain a promotion, if such a concept even exists to them.
  12. Fixed! I went back and followed Roach's advice again, this time to the letter. Apparently, when you uninstall Xenonauts, it removes everything bar the Assets folder. The Assets folder, is what contains the maps. Once that was deleted manually, a new one was created upon installation. Even my old saves are working fine. Thanks guys!
  13. They're not great, but it exceeds the requirements for Xenonauts I believe 1.9 GHz Dual Core Processor 2GB RAM 32 bit operating system I have the embarrassingly archaic ATI Radeon X1200 Graphics card . (Which is four generations old... Four years ago!) According to AMD's auto detect thing, it's fully updated. Unless I'm reading this wrong, it's 830 mb graphics card, while Xenonauts only requires 256 That could help a lot TehRoach, I'll send you my email address via Pm.
  14. Yep, the problem persists even on a new save. I'm still stuck on the alien base loading screen. I'm sure this is a problem on my end, which is why I haven't posted a bug report. If I alt tab out, and back in again, this appears briefly:
  15. Thanks for the advice. I've just tried two fresh installs. Neither have fixed the problem with my save files. I'm going through a few new games now, fast forwarding through months till a Base shows up, to see if they're ok. There's no quicker way to do this, right? If data corruption is not the problem, what could be it? Hardware? Everything else, bar Alien Base and one Crash Site map works fine.
