  1. I think this is pretty common knowledge but never ever do a mission during night early on. Always time the charlie so that it gets to its destination in broad daylight. Also its quite easy to trick the AI into shooting your shield guys as they tend to always take theyr max accuracy shoot no matter what. So either keep your shield guys a couple of steps ahead or have them stand up as the rest of the team is crouching
  2. the trick for the terror missions for me is let them come to you and not chase them around until you have thin theyr number. Unfortunately this means that most civilians are gonna die but better them than your precious soldiers. One or two smoke grenades to cover your exit from the charlie are also really helpful as sometimes you get 3-4 aliens just around your starting position waiting to slaughter you. You can clean terror missions with just the starting equipment with a bit of patience (and sacrificing a lot of civilians, lol)
  3. 1c4 + rockets for the first room 1c4 + smoke for the last room (if u have to capture them, else you can just snipe them down from outside in a couple of turns). Just be prepared to lose soldiers if you get within grenade range ... I find alien bases to be quite easy tbh, you know where the aliens are and they can only come from one direction. Base defences are much harder especially if you get unlucky with enemy placement
  4. this build made the game very frustrating for me (veteran difficulty) even doing every mission i have access to the balance stays in the negative. With the new maintenance costs and the other changes maintaining a second base in the early game is impossible for me where with the last build i could easily have 3 or 4 Taking down ufos is now much harder then before, which leads to increase ufo activity. In my last playthrough Ive had 2 terror missions, an xcom base invasion and an alien base in the first 2-3 months. I need 2 condors and a foxtrot on full hp to down a lone scout
