  1. LOL Quiller you summed it up perfect. I refuse to play on easy mode. Oh and I definitely don't plan on walking away. I will beat back these alien scum!!! haha
  2. to StellarRat: Well the difficulty isn't balanced in regards to the ground and air parts. Most of the time I do well on the ground battles, while the air game is very difficult to gain an edge or even stay competitive. Also keep in mind that I play ironman mode only- I do love a challenge and I don't like to reload just to get better results. Not sure how many times you have played but I can almost bet that you use similar strategies to get the upper hand. That's part of my point is that you shouldn't be forced to play a certain way to be successful.
  3. I do think that there needs to be a bit of balancing for Xenonauts. I have said it before and i'm sticking to what I had said that I believe that the nations are too unforgiving with funding. Doesn't need a drastic bit of balancing but some balancing I think it needs. Lots of people will say that well if you do this a certain way or build this many bases and you have to gain air superiority early that you can be successful. It shouldn't be that you have to do things a specific way to have success. For instance you should be able to start off maybe working hard on troops weapon tech but leave air tech alone for a while and if you do really well with ground battles then you should still be able to do well. But I have played literally like 5 times on normal difficulty having to restart. Trying different strategies also and still getting smashed while losing funding just because the nations seem to freak out when there is some alien activity in their air space- lowering funding a lot. Then in turn I can shoot down at least most of those UFO's but still the nation is showing estimated monthly funding at a loss. And sure enough at the end of month almost all have lowered funding. I think that 1 of 2 things should be altered for balance purposes: 1- lower UFO activity some because its way too high OR 2- make there have to be way more activity in countries airspace before they lower funding so much while also increasing benefits for successful UFO's shot down etc...
  4. lol Buzu and thanks kentsfield- at least It's possible to figure out even if I have to do some math hehe
  5. I have had more than one occasion where I quit the game then loaded back up later or the next day and noticed I needed some more soldiers and I couldn't remember if I had hired some more or not already and they just hadn't made it to base yet. So my question is can I see troops en route status?
  6. thanks Phenom... makes sense with what you were saying. I think I was thinking the old X-Com way where you would be able to sustain positive funding from countries each month fairly easily. Xenonauts may be just structured differently in this regard and minimizing funding loss and finding other ways to make money I guess is key in Xenonauts. I'm in I think my 3rd month and i'm still hanging in there though its getting pretty rough financially. But maybe if I lose a country or 2 I can better protect the others. I have 2 bases and another on the way so I guess i'm not totally financially broke lol.
  7. 1st let me say that I think Goldhawk did a wonderful job and as a person who has played the original X-Com when it came out and plenty times after, this is a great remake and likeness. I love the little things added to Xenonauts like troops and aliens becoming suppressed and the geoscape battles are more fun than on X-Com. But on that note comes the only minor complaint that I have so far... I started off playing Veteran difficulty and I always play Ironman mode btw. That definitely proved too hard for me and I consider myself pretty good at tactical games. The problem wasn't with the ground battles which were very challenging at times, but with the geoscape which has proven to be very hard to me. So I then switched to normal mode and I am still finding it very difficult to keep countries happy and am always losing funds over time. It seems to me that there is too much alien activity going on all the time which lowers your relationship with countries. And seemingly no matter how good I do and how many interceptors I have I still can't keep up. Wish there was a little more balance and maybe some toning back on country relations making it a little more forgiving as far as the goescape is concerned.... just my 2 cents - but great game!
  8. did a little forum hunting and I think the problem may have something to do with ironman mode and it saves everytime a soldier dies...if that's the case then I guess there is no way to fix it except don't play ironman mode lol thought it may have been my system but apparently not
  9. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem. When a soldier dies or vehicle explodes I'm getting stutter (a delay then the animation plays). Is there any config file I can change a graphics setting that may help this? anti aliasing off or something like that? for example forgot to mention my system specs: Pentium Quad core 2.66 8 gigs RAM Windows 7 64 bit Geforce GTX 660 I think Xenonauts version 1.05
  10. I had read somewhere that when you lose an aircraft it just respawns after a while without having to build a new one or pay for it? Is this true? I have been looking at getting this game for a long time and I loved the original X-Com but I have to say that will be a deal breaker for me if your aircraft just respawn. It may seem picky but I like realisim in my games...
