  1. ye being in fire should induce panic, another option for a straight out refusal would be to stop to the square before the fire, a need to recklick the path if you truely want to go for it, sortof, u want me to do what?
  2. just saying, a regular flak jacket helps about diddly squat against an assault rifle. no idea what the 5.56 round is capable of, but a 7,62 NATO round will pierce 40 cm of wood, 15 cm of stone, 1 cm of steel. and about 7 flak jackets. (front + back) its the reason they are not called bullet proof vests in the army. their purpose is to protect you from fragments of grenades or gravel thrown by explosions
  3. warning, nitpicking incoming with no real relation to gameplay, only reality: i have a habit of keeping too many tools in my vest at work, at best out of curiosity i measured it to weigh around 6kg. thing is, that is a weight you are used to since you wear it instead of truely carry it. it does not slow me down in any shape or form. firemen generally work with 50kg weight and again that is doable since its something worn instead of being carried. adrenaline ofc plays a part in that too (a friend of mine is one, says it weighs next to nothing while goin in but is kinda heavy when you pack it) as for soldiers not sure how the combat armor works but a flak vest only really slows you down due to movement resistance and heat. same goes to weapons, a rifle isnt all that heavy, ammo is bound to your vest. any rookie will run just fine with the standard combat gear of an assault rifle, 3 clips, 1disposable bazooka. 2 greandes (small med kit, water canteen, rations, aluminum box to eat from)i forget the rest. dont recall weight ever being an issue, just the disposable bazooka being clunky in your back and bruising your hands with the rifle while crawling. point beign the weight distribution of your vest is generally really good, it does not feel like you are carrying all that much, just that more gear makes movement clunky. weight works fine in that sense, altho the xcom troopers are a bit wussies in that sense. could think of it like the veterans know some small tricks like how to wrap your spork in some cloth to make it rattle less inside the aluminum box ^^ instead of weight you could just as well use some equipment point arbitery value which would sortof be more accurate but that weight system does seem to work just fine (with the exception of armor "weighing" too much, when in reality its the least of the issues in your load)
  4. was thinkin the chopper is sortof really badly designed for the purpose of landing and the pilot is a moron landing it in the middle of enemies. surprising it ever makes it to the ground intact like that. i seem to end up in an area clear of any cover while theres 5+ enemies behind cover just next to my chopper. makes me wonder if the pilot was under alien influence or something. maybe just install some rails on the landing ramp for initial cover or something. altho the current changes do sound good as well
  5. might have something to do with the fact that once you load your game aliens sometimes run out of the ufo. maybe one of em is stuck inside a wall or something and refuses to end his turn before a part of the Tu's are gone, which they never will since he cannot move or something. ive had this too, works fine until i load the game and after that even if you load a previous save it does the same so whatever it is, its tied to loading the game.
  6. dunno, might be a personal thing, but i find turn based games much more enjoyable than real time ones, sortof becomes a semi puzzle game that way. plenty of rts out there, let us keep one turn based game as it is ^^ i dont care if it allows for cheap tactics, it allows them for both sides. and to the previous pages turn based football. not really that but i do enjoy blood bowl too ^^
  7. wtb autocannon with HE ammo like in the original ufo \o/
  8. surprisingly helpful was reading the manual, finding out that u can dodge left or right with q + e, buttons, dunno if you can select the side to roll to with the clickable button
  9. this may or may not have something to do with the message "<plane> is low on fuel and needs to return to base" if it happens while you are already returning to base. went to bed after posting the last one, tried today and got that issue repeatedly until i managed to do it without the message. or it could be gods of windows smiling on me that time. doesnt anyone else get this issue? should i post the save?
  10. mm, nice try but didnt work either, could be because it seems to target the ship itself so if its already the target it doesnt retarget it or something. or some clash that its sortof supposed to already have left but forgot to vanish or something this time a condor did that, reached the edge, (the point where i clicked and the x lit up) after reaching it the condor retargetted the alien ship a battleship this time and just flew straight for it. x still lit spammin the ship spammin x pretty much tried clickin everywhere on the screen with 0 results. afterburners didnt work (thought this one was odd since they seem to work even when fleein normally under the command) dodge did but that doesnt do much good since i cannot do anything else edit: just confirming that your trick does seem to work if done before the ship has reached the exit point. (not fixin the bug but does fix the accidentally click too far to kite one thx)
  11. uhm, by the looks of it, manuyally clickin to the side far nuff is not foolproof either. another carrier, disposed of the escort quick, move in to nuke it with missiles. drop my load on it an flee to reload. check that my heading is right decent distance, click far nuff to the side to get the cross and proper path. 2 planes make it out, my fox reaches the point where its heading with the retreat comman, turns around and targets the carrier... again out of ammo. and can only watch as he flies to his doom. (at this point im gettin a memory flash of the independence day clip old timer flyin kamikaze, "im baaack", albeit with not so great results ) good thing ive learned my lesson and save often
  12. wouldnt mind a quick equipment check when starting an intercept as well. can do it manually no prob, would just be a convenience thingy
  13. for clarity, the condors didnt target the cruiser, they just pathed thu its field of fire. point being even as i gave the order i had paused the game, saw the path immediately and could only watch as the condors flew to their doom. this is not the only time im bummed about not bein able to do anything after the retreat order has been given, same goes with kiting with the fox, sometimes i target a spot too far to the side ( i do like to give it a long path so i dont need to concentrate on it while attackin the escort with condors.) and the fox stops rerponding as it considers itself to be retreating. ah and for the sake of bein not purely negative (as i think in forums peeps come to bitch like me, no reason to type anything if your happy about it) i do like the air combat otherwise, its challenging but its still possible to kill stuff with underpowered fighters if you play it smart, loving it in general.
  14. so, this happens: 2 interceptors + cruiser fight, me with 2 condors and a fox, kite the cruiser with the fox engage interceptors with condors, shoot them down nuke cruiser with torps + the 2 condors from behind, so far so good cept the damn ship doesnt go down, ok no biggie ill just fly away refuel rearm and come back. fly to a safe distance an click x.... the condors turn around and fly towards the cruiser with no guns fox makes it out the cruiser turns to face the condors and annihilates them without me bein able to do anything since im leavin the combat and the condors arent takin any more instructions, cannot reroute em (i had plenty of fuel left since this happened next to my base) they happily fly into the cruisers range. not sure if this really is a bug but i must say this felt kinda dumb. maybe allow me to cancel the retreat order or something?
  15. actually the smokes in reality get really hot when used, unlikely but possible for em to set whatever its standing on in fire if its highly flammable ^^ (really really small chanse but its there) edit, didnt see there was a second page dammit
