  1. The enthusiastic rookie. Eager to fight for humanity with nothing but a grenade, stun baton and some guts behind (and likely all over) them. Get yours now for only 39.999$.
  2. Yeah, there's plenty I'd say. And it will probably be feasible to incorporate the combat shield into cover breaching tactics, the most obvious example being using the shield to get close before lobbing a grenade. And there's always the tried and true rookie death squad stun baton charge.
  3. You mean anti-matter? There will be "sci-fi" weapons. Probably not anti-matter based but who knows? Not all have been revealed yet.
  4. Xenonauts: The Only Line of Defense (And if We Fail You All Become Xenobait So You Better Not Be Stingy With The Funding)
  5. It has no "official" Latin translation that I know of. It's a common phrase in English used in expressions like "To go above and beyond the call of duty" for example. But like it did in the SAAB series, fighting an alien force gives it a whole new dimension so to speak. I don't think these things have to be in Latin.
  6. "Per aspera ad astra" seems appropriate to the situation. Or, alternatively, "Boil 'em mash 'em stick 'em in a stew!". Also if anyone remembers that 90s American military series that was a bit Top Gun-ish but with a Sci-Fi twist. It was called Space: Above and Beyond, got cancelled after one season. Anyway, "Above and beyond" is simple, down to earth and military sounding but has an additional layer of meaning in the context of an organization meant to fight an extraterrestrial foe.
  7. I really can't think of any other base defense utility that doesn't involve its representation on the geoscape. I do, however, have an idea for a simple implementation that is pretty much automated. Just like the radar, the anti-air battery would have a range circle. If your interceptors engage any UFOs within this circle, the battery fires a single salvo which is assumed to occur just before your fighters reach the bogeys. This is instantly auto-calculated with a 0 - 100% chance of each UFO in the group suffering structural damage, critical damage or being destroyed (only escorts would be destroyable while the "capital ships" could only be damaged). It's simple, automated and requires no player input beyond attempting to engage within the battery's range. One thing I like about Alien Invasion is how base defenses and interceptors can work in tandem.
  8. It's probably best if you focus on technical stuff that will help modders. Everything else will take care of itself.
  9. I can only submit my earlier Caesan related "work". Seems the forum doesn't support spoiler tags (only temporarily I hope) so I'll just post links. Original (for the uninitiated): http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/6921/caesan.jpg Pimp: http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/450/caesanpimpglassescopy.jpg Santa: http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/1264/caesansanta.jpg Not sure if I'd actually use this to market anything. Except pimp hats maybe.
  10. Oh no, an Australian? Crikey! Well, Chris is right about one thing. This is quite unsurprising. Congratulations Sathra, I will begin fearing you shortly. It's mostly related to the size of forum population I think. While the community is small and intimate, more akin to a family, things are mostly fine but the more people there are the more "combustible" it gets.
  11. You're probably right Chris. I don't have a Twitter account and probably never will. In fact I tend to stay away from all online social hubs (Facebook & Co.) except for some forums. I hope your tweeting bears some fruit though.
  12. Heya, moved in and settling in. It's a bit bright in here but I'll adapt. I put the name "Chris" as my referrer, it's funny 'cause it's true. Looking forward to Desura pre-orders coming online.
